mattydski 560
For the equivalent magnification, and equivalent objective lense size..S+B. To give an example: AGS = Fiat S+B = Porsche Both do a job, but one does it better!! Quote Link to post
bignoel 14
i agree but cant understand why he offerd me the AGS for half the price of the smiht an bender odd heh Quote Link to post
mattydski 560
Agree, unless the AGS had the optimum magnificaton and objective, and he didn't have a comparible S+B of the correct mag/obj to offer. If that is the case then he was doing his job. AGS is ok, its not a bad scope. Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
It's obvious mate, he has a bigger profit margain on the AGS i bet..... read up on every thing before you go on a spending mission, my tip for the day....... Quote Link to post
IanB 0
No comparsion the S&B will be far better in low light, sun glare, sharpness and general build quality..Like all the premium brands i.e Swarovski, Leupold, Zeiss, schmidt and bender Quote Link to post
martin 332
I might be wrong, but,I always thought that 'AGS' stood for 'Air Gun Scope'. But,that aside the S&B is one of the best scopes about,as are Swaro's/Zeiss etc.I would guess that he was selling the S&B on behalf of someone else and he would make more money on the AGS...............'M' Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
For fox and deer, S&B is much better. Besides him trying to make money, the AGS will have had more mag than the S&B at those prices, he may have thought that you would benefit from a bit more mag, and for fox he may have had a point. But, the glass on the S&B is top-notch, if you did want the mag, you could consider Bushnell Elite 4200, Leupold VX-III, or if you can find it, Zeiss Conquest. Of the three, the Zeiss is the best optically. All of those are much better than the AGS and will be in the price bracket of that S&B. Quote Link to post
IanB 0
Also the better glass helps sometimes when lamping, I've been out and spotted eyes, looked through a mates scopes and couldn't make out what it was, tried through different scopes and clear as day... CAT it does make a difference but the prices are a lot different too.... For general daytime shooting, it doesn't matter that much... but for poorly lit and sun glare times it makes a massive difference... I;ve looked through a MTC viper at a target and couldn;t see shit because of the sun with the sun shade on also... then looked at the same target with my centrefire with a swarovski on, no sun shade and the target was clear as day... So you pays your money and have something that will do the business and last you a lifetime.. all depends what you want and your situation.... Quote Link to post
coldweld 65
Buy the best you can afford . S&B don't have many scopes better than them !! What mag was the S&B ? Quote Link to post
njc110381 0
S&B every time, no question! I was out stalking yesterday night and I could see better through my S&B 8x56 than I could without it! Amazing scopes! Quote Link to post
