Lee85 44
I find it harder to shoot these than rabbits, wood pigeons seem to clock me long before i've got near them. They also seem quite hard to shoot out of trees, the camo quite well, in the woods the seem to pick the trees with a lot of leafs to hide in. Anyone else found this? Quote Link to post
SEAN3513 7
they arn't daft. you will have to find their sitty tree........look for droppings on the ground. set up your hide about 20/25 yards away sit tight and be paitient and only take clear head or neck shots. they arn't easy but if you can find their tree at the right time success will come. all the best sean Quote Link to post
whippeter69 88
Easy way to get them is find out where they roost ( watch them as they fly about and where they stay over night) and once you find that spot(usually in woods) get some good camouflage and sit tight up against a tree or bush, they come in sit down, you aim and pull the trigger simples Quote Link to post
Lee85 44
rabbits & pigeons this weakend for me then, and there both in the same location, hopefully ahve some photos monday. Quote Link to post
PeakOil 352
Either roost shooting or finding a tree they like to use during the day works best for me. I found an oak tree they like to sit in from 10am - 2pm. Set up the cammo netting and my fishing chair 25 yards away and wait for them to come in for a rest / nap after feeding in the morning. aaronpigeonplucker 32
i have the same problem. but sean the 1 i had dropped with a shot to the upper chest? haert shots and other vital organs hit in the chest will work just aswell as heck and neck shots. Quote Link to post
adam1 2
The trouble with chest shots is they are often inefficiant because the contents of the crop act like a bullet proof vest so for me its head or neck shots or no shot at all. Quote Link to post
aaronpigeonplucker 32
go on the site and click on videos then click on pigeon retrieve and you will see this mans shot went through the wing and into the chest. not sure wether he was usinf an FAC gun thogh. Quote Link to post
Guest air gunner
zero your gun really well before you go out though because the heads are small. after a small bit of experiance never bother with wing shots and not really chest shots either much more likely to hit them but not kill them. atleast with a head shot there is a clean miss. look around i find early morning is good they seem to feed then find a tree in big flocks and sit around i set up underneath a tree. Sterry 0
im not sure if it works but decoying and hiding up really tight like a bale hide with just a peep hole. i only say this as the other day i was in the hide with my mate eating our sarnies standing up looking around and 3 pigeon landed among our decoys, like the pair of pillacks we are we just looked on and presumed the other one would get their gun. needless to say niether of us did and they flew off.
