ryan.yeo 0
hi to all. firstly sorry if this is in the wrong area as im new to the site. i have a question about pcp air rifles. i have been reading about them and they look the ideal air rifle to use for hunting pigeons with the low noise and recoil but my question is how do you fill them with air? i am aware that you can get diving tanks but i was wondering how the hand pumps work & f they do at all. can you use the pumps to pump air direct into the guns own air chamber or are they for the diving tanks? if the pumps connect straight to the gun i would prefer that as i know that diving tanks are quite expensive and continually need to be filled (at cost) if anyone could answer this it would be a great help. i currently have only owned and used spring air rifles so have no experience with any others although i've been told to stay away from co2. i do use shotguns but sometimes i enjoy just going into the woods with an air rifle so am intrested about these pcp's. i do have permision to shoot a very small woods around the newquay area if anyone would be interested, not alot other than pigeons & crows but some company and new friends is always nice. thanks in advance ryan
BEARINATOR 2,872
Welcome to the site, you use the pump into the air rifles own bottle
The one 8,524
Hello and welcome mate Most folk use bottle because you just connect up and in 40 seconds your shooting again With the pump it can be a hard slog filling your gun

hughesey1552 0
have a look at this thread in the airgun forum....Bottle vs Pump I personally use a pump and dont think its that much hard work and yes you pump the air into the air rifles own air resovoir. ryan.yeo 0
thanks for the advice guys a great help. i know that the bottles are good but they are a big lump to carry around so i am now drawn towards the pump idea as someone i was talking to today said that he just keeps it topped up rather than let it run out of air and its no problem at all. has anyone got any suggestions of a fairly good gun possibly second hand, my absolute limit would be £400 but might go a little further. or is it better to just buy new??? once again thanks for the fast replies guys ryan
BEARINATOR 2,872
There is any amount of second hand guns for £400, bsa super ten, air arms s410. Go to your local gun shop and have a feel of the different weights of them as you don't want to buy one that is too heavy to be carried around
hughesey1552 0
no you can get some cracking second hand guns for that price sometimes including the filling equip, scope and silencer etc in the price. Its probably better to look on www.airgunbbs.com because their sales section is just for air rifles. However there are some bargains on the for sake section of this website at the minute, just have a look. Hughesey
