Recommended Posts

£160 he should have change outta that towards your locator ..

thats coming out the next pay check as saves borrowing my mates although it may be wasted wi the amount of earth work the dog gets to do these days  never put my dog to ground wi out one

anyway just got a quote from a gun room near me £72 for a lightfource striker and £89 for the compatable 18 amp battery....what you think to that price?going to get a few more quotes and see if anyone will price match etc etc

£89  for the batterie, feck that girl, do like i say get round the markets, you can pic a cheap batterie charger up for around £10 from most motorst discount shops. by the way an 18 amp baterie wont fit a bum bag , better of with a little rucksack for the big batterie.

ah i see it seems to be the going rate for a battery made for lamping, what is the diffrence? do lamp batterys ususally come with a charger is that seperate....think ive got a few old rucksacks in the house somewear....got every other bag under the sun so theres bound to be a ruck sake somewere

as you can tell i don have a clue about lamps, batterys and all that jazz :icon_redface:

I agree with oldskool  I find the belt pack a much better way to distribute the weight than a shoulder one. The type of lamp you will need will depend on what quarry your intending to lamp and what type of land. You wont go far wrong with a lazerlite they are a good beginners lamp, small compact and light weight and the side beam is handy. But they have their limitations, in large fields the beam isnt as good as the lightforce lamps, I would say a lazerlite is a good choice for rabbit lamping and something with a longer beam and more candlepower is better for lamping other quarry :whistling: Arthur Carter does some decent deals, I got a lamp and battery pack off him a wee while ago for £100 plus a £10 discount of my next order, I wish I had spent a bit extra now though and gone for the belt battery pack cos I just cant get on with the shoulder one if I am out for a reasonable length of time

if ya want a belt back , get a bum bag  cost a few quid from the market stals , just make shure its big enough for the 7am batterie.

but most of you lot on here have more money than sence , buying all these kits , including batteries and lamps ect.

get round your markets , theres lots of places to get the batteries, all these stalls doing the disabled scooters have the sealed gel batteries, you can get a 18 amp for around £20 -25 and the little 7amps for around, £5. shop around ladies and gents.

also you can get a little ruck sack for a fiver from the markets , personly i find these the most comfortable for the bigger 18 amp

thats just plain lazy going lamping on a disabled scooter

the batterie they sel you in a gun shop, or from the mail order hunting supleiers are exactly the same as what runs the diabled scooters, they also have them on golf trollies , and in burglar alarms as a back up in case the electic power is cut.

all modern batteries are sealed now, and alot are gell filled. i have been informed you can get them from burglar alarm shops, but just check out you markets in your local town , these so many lazey fat feckers now that these scooters are very popular. might get one meslf :icon_redface:

that works out nicley as the gun room i was planning to go to has a granny scooter shop just up the road so i think i may buy the lamp tomorow then have a hunt around for the battery....do granny scooter batterys have the right attachment on the end usually?and what do i do about a charger or do they usually come with one?

just had a quik look found these ;)

Good link mate!

Will be having some of those connectors.

Am surprised no one has offered to sort JPT's battery and lamp out for her yet ................

I would but I'd only disgrace myself by getting caught rummaging in her knicker drawer :icon_eek:

even electrical suppliers have batts at half price of what you been quoted 12v 20ah for 40 quid 12v 7ah 15 quid not deben but brand new. clulite do a shoulder bag for 7ah batts for few quid .whatever batt you go for depends on how long you want to last as for the lamp strikers are ok apart from crappy internal wireing

Ebay for the batteries everytime  i've used a cluson lazerlite for shooting for years, its never let me down but the beam seems very wide now i am using it with dogs so im thinking of upgrading to a striker although i dont like all the talk of shite wiring :hmm:
