Swampy 147
Was out last Friday, thought I was doing really well when I nailed 4 coney within 15mins. All infected with Mixi. Not so clever after all. Seems it rife this year. I'm in Leics, anyone else have similar circumstances? Quote Link to post

Have heard that coney can become resilient to the disease and it only manifests itself in cycles of 2 or 3 years. Also heard that folk still but the disease down when coney become rampant. Another is that it only affects warrens in a certain area and that it doesn't spread to others........who knows? Bloody foul disease either way On the plus side my Vizla pup caught his first Sunday so he at least knows what to do. One time I didn't want him to bring to me! Trying to find positives......It does mean I can guarentee clean kills as you can get really close. Its good training for the pup. Other than that I cant think of anything. I find it quite sickening when I come accross one. Blind, deaf and helpless. Funny I can break the neck of a netted rabbit without batting an eye. Shooting a mixi point blank upsets me. Some say that they are still alright to eat...........No thanks! Swampy "putting the ning in morn for 16hrs 18m" Quote Link to post
iguanaman2442 0
No i wouldnt eat it. Yeah it makes you feel sorry for the poor little buggers dont it. Must be 1 of the most horrible deaths ever. Best to do the poor thing a favour and get it over and done with as quick as possible. Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
I live in the Leeds area and shoot a couple of farms on the outskirts. Both have Mixy and driving around the Olley area, where my boys live, I've seen a few of the poor little buggers sitting by the road looking very sorry for themselves. I know they're a pest but as deaths go, Mixy's nasty. Quote Link to post
