Ferreting Mad 0
I currently have a medium size hob who is just starting to shows signs of being able to breed he was born last June and has been o one ferreting trip and bolted one rabbit. I really want another ferret (a jill). I want to get him neutered so if anyone has any xperience please comment. Also if I was o have the jill it would be a kit. Does anyone have any advice on ow to mix them. Thanks.. Quote Link to post
sue 1
if i was you i would get him vesectomised then you wouldnt have the problem of taking the jill out of season ,but if your getting a young kit i would keep them separate until she is a bit bigger so she isnt bullied Quote Link to post

Ferreting Mad 0
At what age and how do I mix them? Quote Link to post
sue 1
i would put them together when the jill is about 4 months old when she is big enough to stick up for herself ,just put them in the same cage and keep an eye on them .they should be fine Quote Link to post
Ferreting Mad 0
I read somewhere that when the jill is coming into season she won't tolrate being mated with the hob and as they're together will they fight, won't they. Can you also tell me the advantages and disadvantages of having him vascetomised rather then neutering. Thanks.. Quote Link to post
sue 1
none of might fight ,the jills put him in his place if they dont want him ,and as regarding neutering ,if you have him vasectomised then he will still mate with the jill when she comes into season and thus take her out solving any problems what could occur with her being in season along time plus saves you money and time having to take her to the vets to have her jill jabbed and you wont have unwanted kits to find homes for .if you decide to have him castrated he will loose any urge to want to mate with the jill, then you still have the jill to think about then when she comes into season unless you have her spayed or lend a vasectomised hob or jill jabbed Quote Link to post

ellir0305 9
If I get vascetomised will I be able to keep them together right throughout the year. im not sure you getting vasectamised would help but if the hob does then yes Quote Link to post
The one 8,511
You want your hob vasectamised and he will live with your jill all year round ,try a rescue and you might get a jill of age that you can put her in with the hob just now Quote Link to post
angoraferret 0
Some v hobs will not live with jills all year though they are just too homonal and won't leave them alone, if you want everyone to live in peace without any worry why not neuter both the jill and hob. Quote Link to post
