SEAN3513 7
i use a pump for all 3 of my pcps its a lenghty process for the rapid and not to bad for the hw..........the ultra takes about 3 mins!!!! but i get over 400 shots with rapid 100 ish with the hw and about 45-50 with the ultra. so what i am saying is its no hardship with a pump. but i am probably not as old and feeble as some people ( grim.......lol.) he he. each to there own ..............but have to agree with grim, with regards to your dive bottle....seems a bit dodgy?? all the best sean Quote Link to post

stankonia 0
Hiya, Just to say my divers bottle wernt thowdest bottle but it favvered it. The man in the divers shop was a good man i could tell. My bottle thinking about it was reconditioned when i bought it in 1997. I'm not expecting it back but i'm hopefull. If it fails there is no charge. I will let everybody know when i get the phone call after tuesday. Cheers. Ian Quote Link to post
RAMCAM 4
How do? I will find out whether my old divers bottle passed it's test on tuesday or wednesday. The man said there is a good chance it won't pass then i will not get it back. Then im i the merkat for a new bottle or a pump i've heard pumps are hard work and the seals can go when they get hot.I am leaning towards a hill pump they are roughly around the same price as a new bottle. Please advise? Cheers Ian Stick with the diver bottle mate with the amount of effort it takes to fill with a pump you might aswell have a springer instead. Quote Link to post
hughesey1552 0
ian if your gun has oly got a small air resovoir then having to pump it up should be no problem whatsoever. Ive got an s200 and never let it get empty, i just top it up after every shooting session then it is always ready to be used and it only takes 5 minutes to top it up. ive used mines loads of times and nver had anyproblems with seals and whatnot. If you dont mind me asking can i ask which gun shop you use? Ryan I dont mind. Target sports in bolton or guns n ammo in leigh for pellets an gun oil spray.a diving shop in ashton in makerfield for my bottle. My gun is a Titan MTP .22 the same size gun as a falcon fn 12 about 30.5" long.therfore a small resovoir.I will upload a picture soon.( falcon bought the titan factory )Cheers Ian yeah i use target sports but guns n ammo is only really good for pellets n oil as you said. any luck getting permission yet? Hiya,It's a work in progress not got my bottle back yet, Got my letter sorted got to decide where to send them got a couple ideas.Did you see the pics of my gun? Hows thowd knee? Yeah i saw the pics u put up of yer gun, looks like a nice bit of kit, nice stock aswell. I think my next gun is guna have to be sumething along them lines, a bit shorter that what ive got now. As for the knee im hoping that when i see tghe specialist in just over a week he will say im ok to walk and get out and about again. When i can eventually get about ive got a few places i want to ask for permission so if i do get some you can come alon if you want. Hace you asked at pennington flash golf course, think theyve got a few rabbits on there. Ryan Quote Link to post

If they do then some of the bags that get photographed are somewhat light given the ratio of pellets fired and prey hit! If I go out for a few hours at night, I'll take a maximum of 10 pellets. I make my shots count. (Too many rabbits and the wife complains that she can't get any food in the freezer!). Essentially my argument therefore would have to favour the pump. Besides I could probably do with the exercise. Rgds Swampy "putting the ning in morn for 13hrs 43mins" Quote Link to post

Rgds Swampy "putting the ning in morn for 13hrs 43mins" im the same as you but i generally take around 30-40 pellets just in case, esp when ratting also i like to check ma zero and if its a quiet day ill set a few targets up at longer ranges just for a bit of fun. Lke i said in an earier post, if you just top your gun up with the pump after each hunting trip you'll have no probs. However if i did have a gun like a rapid with a larger air resovoir i would definately get a bottle. Hughesey Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
Just scanned through this but remember as well you get clean dry air from a bottle...not necessarily so from a pump, the pump may be marginally cheaper money wise, but the bottle is much quicker and easier. So bottle EVERY time for this OAP!!! Quote Link to post
Timelord 0
I've had many pumps over the years (Webleys, FX's Axors etc) and sold them on with the rifle I was selling at the time and the best pump on the market that guarantees 100% no moisture being compressed into the rifle is the 'The Hills pump with the Dry-Pak' system. All the others on the market boast of built in filters and I've found them to not do the job of keeping moisture out, they may well filter particles etc, but they do not de-moisturise the air on the intake. When air is forced into the rifle/buddy bottle etc at these tremendous pressures water present in the air will turn into liquid just like most gases when compressed... Hope this was helpful Quote Link to post

Clean Dry Air keeps being mentioned. Now call me stupid (most do!) but surely it depends where you pump your gun up. You will always get moisture in the cylinder however this is usually dispelled on the first shot. So if your pumping your gun up in the middle of a field in the pouring rain next to a bonfire yes you will get moist dirty air. If you're in your garage at home in the warmth of the living room, you'll get dry clean air. Stands to reason. Thats why I like springers. One shot. Wait 20mins and the coney are out again or move along to the next patch. Like I said before. I only take 10 shots with me....OK if you want to zero against a target take a few more but anything more than 20 seems excessive. Swampy Still "ninging" since Monday 9th March Quote Link to post
