Need a few questions answered plz

a few random question i was thinking about today. thought i might as well ask them all in a one'r

 

1) is there any kind of grant from the government for killing mink or any other pests?

(money for traps and stuff)

2) does anyone have a link to the complete list of pest you can kill under the general licence act?

3) has anyone repared the trigger latch on a mark 6? what did u use?

4)whats the best/sure fire way to get rooks and jackdaws?

5) is it possible to live catch rabbits from somwhere and move them somwhere there arnt may to boost the population? and does it work?

6)does anyone use squirrel as a tunnel trap bait? how do u find it works?

1... yes butoften paper work is more hassel than its worth , we quali for a grant to do corvids and foxs, 4 figures per year, but this is because were in a core area for cappacallie

 

2..basc or the sga ...

 

3..no

 

4..rooks, shoot branchers in may jacks in a ladder trap(although modifications to stop them escaping may be needed, feeding up a shooting site in april may time has always worked well 4 me, but nothing is sure fire by any means

 

5 .. yes in therie, but rabbits leave a area / dont enhabit it for a reason , but as its illegal il not go there

 

6.. tunnel trap bait , sometimes for stoats but didnt improve catch rates, as 4 squirel, we only have reds so cant help you there either

Definately a ladder trap for the rooks, it will catch 200+ plus at times. bait with corn and lid off for a few days then fasten lid on and watch them pile in. In summer put the trap near a water trough or something as they will flock there to drink and increase the numbers you will catch.

Yes well said that man AND IF I might add "rabbit does have its "area" and it IS against the law to transfer them to another area without " DEFRA " NOTIFICATION so dont try.

cant see why squirrel would work any different to say rabbit. meat is meat. i find taking a liver and smearing it on and around the tunnel works well and when you catch a stoat or weasel rub that on the tunnel this works well not sure if all year round though. all the best.
