I would apprecaite any help on which Pajer/shogun would be the best, I do a bit of shooting & fishing, and i also carry two springers in the shooting season. I do not have alot of room were i live, so I decided on a short wheel base. I am looking at around 02 year for purchase, and I was just wondering weither any of you lad's may have a bit of knowledge on which would be the best, hope to hear some reply's.

The option's on both are huge, so depending on how much you've got to spend, keep it simple.

If you're looking at imports, watch for any signs of head problems. They are prone to over-heating and cracking. It's not a problem so long as the correct coolant's been used, it's a special one for the both or those motors and they need it or they'll break.

Auto box's can give problems if the fluid's not been changed when it should've or the wrong type's been used.

In spite of what you may have heard, they are not as strongly built as their reputation deserves, more 'bling' than function. If used off road, they can be fragile and spare's cost a fortune (even more than most Jap cars do).

Have a look at SWB Troopers and Landcrusiers as well. Both are much more strongly built (if a little more basic) for similar cash.

Good luck, mate!

The Imprted Pajero has a few more extra gadjets to play with than the shogun! the 2.8 SWB Paj we had came with electronic adjustable Dampers, heated seats and just about everything, the shoguns I have seen have been pretty basic compared to the Paj....

Before we brought one I looked into them and the 2.5 Litre TDI models are fitted with a Timing belt, the 2.8 model is fitted with a timing chain, obviousley the 2.8 had plenty more grunt too! it passed everything except a petrol station .....
