chimp 299
Went shooting in my back garden last night TIME: 10 - 11 GUN: HW80 GAME: Cats Ive been baiting my garden up for rats recently. Ive been using a top bait called whiskers which the old bloke in the fishing shop told me was the bollocks for rats. Each morning ive been finding the bait is gone so i decided on a visual last night once my mum had gone to bed. I put my urban camo on which i got from the market and checked the batteries in my maglite were full. Before i started shooting i went downstairs and got some crips and coke for the oppo so i didnt need to move when i got hungry or needed a drink. I must of waited about 10 minutes before i spotted some eyes down the end of the garden. Ive not got a scope so i placed the open sights in between the eyes like my mate does when he goes foxing. I was really excited because this was my first rat but i controlled my breathing has a guzzle of my pop and squeezed the trigger. Then i heard a scream........ SHIT it was a cat . I ran downstairs and done it round the nut with the first thing i could grab which was a tennis racket. Job done. I did feel a bit guilty at first but then i thought well cats kill rats so really im just protecting my future sport . I put out a bit more bait and after 20 mins or so i could hear movement from near the shed . I carefully reloaded with a copper pellet that i found inbetween the cracks of my patio which ive been saving for a special occasion. I scanned the area with my torch and spotted some eyes again. I decided to wait this time because i didnt want to kill another cat. The one i previously shot was laying next to me on my bedroom floor and it f*****g stunk like... well a cat i suppose. About a minute past and the eyes came towards the bait. I could see it was another cat only difference being this was one big ginger one. I threw caution to the wind and popped this one just below the ear and in line with the eye. I know that is where you shoot rabbits, so i guess the same applied to cats. Any way this one dropped to the floor so i ran down and grabbed it. I carried it back to my hide/bedroom and it was going skit kicking around and the claws kept coming out and in of its toes. I put it down next to the other one and after a minute or so it stopped having a fit but then it pissed on my carpet Time was getting on now so i planned another 10 minutes. 2 cats started having a bit of a do in my garden, proper going at each other. They wouldnt stand still so i shot one running. I didnt miss it but i only got it in the back leg so it ran off screaming like id just give it one  Any ways that was my evening shooting. I enjoyed it because i love the outdoors even if it is just having a window open in my bedroom. Ill upload a pic later of the cats. I heard you should dress game straight away so i took their collars off and legged them together ready for the pot RESULT. lol
arcticgun 4,548
You wanna pray the cats owner never finds out, or you will get hung out to dry pal, shooting out of the house window is a big no, no as well (unless you got a decent bit of land) usually less than the legal distance from paths and roads (firearms offence), shooting animals that are moving with a sub 12ftlb air rifle is just pure cruel as well, your parents should know better than to let you own a gun IMHO, atb Richard PS, the rule of thumb is if you cannot identify your quarry clearly don't pull the trigger PPS, I hope you don't get to offended when the goverment bans airguns cos its lads like you that will get them banned! PPPS, I really hope this is a joke (and if so fair play, not the best idea to post on a hunting forum though) if not you truly are a first class muppet Edited March 23, 2009 by arcticgun
