BEARINATOR 2,871
If your going to let someone take your dog out make sure you can trust them completely as lurchers can have accidents far to easily, i used to take my mates dog out but if it got injured i would phone him on the way back to let him know and to make sure he was awake when i got there, so he could check for himself wether it needed to go to the vets or not Quote Link to post
Guest gaz100604
well the season is over now mate..well pretty much anyway....have you not been gettnig him out at all this season? i think if not then if your attatched to the dog then you could keep him as a pet and bring him out when you can.... if you want to keep him but want to have him working but you dont have the time..then only a close friend that you know wont mistreat the dog is the only person i would let work the dog.... hope this helps Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
When you say 'take him out' do you mean working or just for exercise? If you can't even get to walk the dog, free running etc then it would be fairer on the dog to rehome it, IF you can find a really good home. If your'e just talking about actually working it, then how would you answer the following questions? Is the dog desperate to work? How old is it? Does it have a good quality of life, plenty of exercise and time with you without actually working it? Is it happy without actually working? Is it depressed/bored etc with the life you give it at the moment? Do you have another dog to keep it company when your'e not there? If you answer these questions (not necessarily on the forum!) honestly then the decision should be a lot easier. Quote Link to post
