Rabbit poulation this year.

Recommended Posts

I have found the rabbits have not been as thick on the ground this year as they have been in the past couple of years.

There doesnt seem to be as many hotspots as in the past. Not even in places that are always good for producing rabbits.

just wondering if any one thinks the same. Or weather it is just a bad year for the area i lamp in.

I cover a large quite a large area.

ive been getting all my good bags from the higher ground this season, instead of being widespread they seem to be in isolated pockets but in better numbers.

no more than normal i wouldnt say. one of the areas that was hit last season has held alot this season and quite a few had old scabbing on em. i dont know if the scabbing was caused by myxi though. does anyone know if when they get it its lights out or can they live through it?

My permission in South Wales was virtually wiped out (all areas) last season by Mixy and as a result I have been easy going on them this year. Far less days out, so I have had to focus on other quarry this year.

we had alot of mixy pre season we had plenty rabbits start season then it went thin on the ground through december then the numbers came back so all in all it been a average season but starting to see mixy rabbits again  but hopefully they clear up for a good season next year

I belive they do get an amunity to it. i have been told that the light scabing is a sign of them getting over it but i am not 100% sure. All i can tell you is it is spread buy the flea on them. and it looks a dam horrible way to die.

These antis go on about hunting beeing cruel. whats more cruel than mixy i know which way i would rather die if i was a rabbit.

its been patchy for me this season. At the beginning on my usual permissions i was struggling to find many when, not long ago, they were overrun. Overall there are definately less rabbits around here compared to a few years ago. Because of this i've been out and found more permission which has given me higher numbers but now the ferreting here is over and one of the dogs is out of action it looks like the new bits will have to wait til next season. Still, im not complaining, gives me something to look forward to and a chance to spend time over the summer learning the new land :D

f**k micky are in your seventies and on the net. I like ot see the old ones getting with the technology :clapper::D

You are lucky lads over there here in Ireland we have a few hot spots across the country and they are not that hot anymore, there is too much rain over here. I would only dream bout bags of forty and fifty I dont think I have ever had over the twenty mark ferreting or Lamping.

No mate 61 and thats not old see how fast you catch up :yes::yes:
