Good for you mate!

Ive only seen him in the one course talked about on here,and would not presume to judge ANY dog on one run , other than that it confirms the dog has plenty of wind.

Take no notice of whats said L.king. it is nice when a dog gives the hare some stick and really pressures it and takes it quick [ all the better for the next race ] but once in a while you do get a strong hare which knows every trick in the book and can take a dog the distance, If the 10 min run was his first of the day then yes it is a plodder,but that run could've been his 3/4/5 in consession so nobody can judge without being on the land to see it.

build him back up and who knows you still might get some enjoyment out the old dog . all the best bud ..........steve

my 2pence worth,i have watched this course in question about 20 times since this thread started,and that hare was probably the best one on the fen that season,the dog just couldnt get close to him,people cant compare dogs,not unless it ran this same hare,so people sayin the dog had no heart and is useless,knows FCUK all about coursin,how can anyone say a dog is like that after killin a hare after a 9 minute(not a 10 minute)course

i think if you are into the sport,COURSING.......it doesnt matter if its 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,20 minutes,its all about the course which excites us,either killed or get away

I've seen this dvd and the dog in question never got anywhere near the hare for 9 minutes. If it takes a dog that long to catch a hare then the simple fact is that it has not made the grade and is no good for the job. I run on the fens week in week out and my dogs take on average 2 - 3 minutes to catch their hares with pressure all the way, a good dog should be able to catch a good hare in between 2 and four minutes.

NOT KNOCKING THE ROSSCO DOG CAUSE HE DID SHOW A LOT OF HEART IN THAT COURSE BUT AFTER SPEAKING TO THE LAD WHO OWNED HIM AT THE TIME OF THE FOOTAGE OPENLY ADMITTED THE HE COULDN'T TOUCH THE HARES FURTHER UP NORTH ON SMALLER LAND,HE ALSO SAID THAT HE WASN'T THE SAME DOG AFTER THAT DAY,NEVER SEEN HIM RUN IN THE FLESH BUT TO ME IT JUST SEEMED TO BE HIS STYLE OF RUNNING SO I DON'T THINK IT WOULD OF MATTERED IF IT WAS HIS 1st RUN OR 4th RUN THEY WOULD HAVE PROBABLY BEEN RUN THE SAME WAY,J.M.O

sugarplums your more than welcome to come and have a day out with me on the fens this winter and I will educate you on how a good dog runs! And how I know how long my courses generaly are is I film them.

i seen this dog run and yes it was a plodder but it deffo not on a street . i like hearing that they say this dog had no heart lol 10 mins behind a hare it definately has a heart lets see some of these whippet greyhounds do it

 

 

but thats just it isnt it mate a whippet grey cant stay for 10mins does it make him the inferior dog i dont think it does in anyway shape or form , how would you define the better boxer one who wins on points over 10rounds or the boxer who kos his opponents in 3-4 rounds , explosive and entertaing is the boxer id want pay my money go see.as the lads said in smaller fields these dogs will have problems , i have a colliexgreyxcolliexwhippet with touch saluki in him hes 22ts and has had five lamped big rabbits and they were unbelievable runs longest being about three mins mark pressure and turning not letting the big rabbit get into his stride it was heart in mouth moment every run, now ive just got my hands on a 2yr old 3/4 saluki 1/4 grey see [bANNED TEXT] all fuss is about and tbh unless i can get him im big fields day time behind some longears might as well keep him as a pet. [bANNED TEXT] i seen so far not been impressed.

 

unfortunnatly boxing is all about scoreing points nowadays mate lol sad but true there is far to meny boxers comeing through and winning on points , bring back the brawlers i say .

just out of curiosity poachers pocket have you ever coursed on the fen in winter time ps what was the breeding in snoops dog that killed the four from five

You have to temper all runs with the words "winter hare and fair law" for them to mean anything imo.

Im not suggesting Snoopdog isnt in that category, I dont know him , but there are guys chiming in here saying I took so and so on the lamp, what the**** has that do do with coursing on big land?

Courses run where a dog is slipped as soon as the hare lifts, are stacked in the dogs favour.

A fast ,quick off the mark whippet/ grew type can pick up in these circumstances, because stamina never becomes an issue.

 

The hare does not have time to get into its stride,and is often caught inside 100yds

.Give the same hare to 100yds law and you will see a different course entirely.

Iv'e dvds of runs with blokes slipping on kickups ,and the dog nailing the hare before it gets into gear.

That is NOT coursing as I understand it.

The fact that these fellas are willing to be filmed doing this ,and proudly holding up the hare after a 20 second run indicates to me that .

A .They no nothing about coursing.

B . They know nothing , and care less , about sportsmanship.

Of course I am speaking retrospectively, ie before the ban.

theres more to coursing than running on the fens , and alot of these saluki types wouldnt do well in small fields where you wouldnt and couldnt afford to give the hare a 100yard head start, each to their own but a dog that can get hare in small fields in 2-5mins is a better dog than one who sits behind it and runs in down after 10mins putting in one turn.and you point ( is aload bollox some run on big fields some run em in small fields some you dudes like u are happy your dog took down hare after 10mins putting in one turn other lads happy about their dogs taking hare down in half that time as i said each to their own.
