frying squad 0
how was it bred and what was its best bag on the fens pre ban of course Quote Link to post
Guest lurchers&terriers
Iv always thought and also heard that you don't need a good dog for the fens just a very fit one with lots of stamina. A good dog is a dog that will come where i go in the day and catch 4 out of 4 or what ever. wont be done. im not nocking anyones sport. Quote Link to post
frying squad 0
i think theres people talking on this topic that has no idea about the fens........just spewing out the first thing that comes in there heads so adios all ile say is go there with your non saluki bred lurchers and see how you get on Quote Link to post

inan 841
i seen this dog run and yes it was a plodder but it deffo not on a street . i like hearing that they say this dog had no heart lol 10 mins behind a hare it definately has a heart lets see some of these whippet greyhounds do it but thats just it isnt it mate a whippet grey cant stay for 10mins does it make him the inferior dog i dont think it does in anyway shape or form , how would you define the better boxer one who wins on points over 10rounds or the boxer who kos his opponents in 3-4 rounds , explosive and entertaing is the boxer id want pay my money go see.as the lads said in smaller fields these dogs will have problems , i have a colliexgreyxcolliexwhippet with touch saluki in him hes 22ts and has had five lamped big rabbits and they were unbelievable runs longest being about three mins mark pressure and turning not letting the big rabbit get into his stride it was heart in mouth moment every run, now ive just got my hands on a 2yr old 3/4 saluki 1/4 grey see [bANNED TEXT] all fuss is about and tbh unless i can get him im big fields day time behind some longears might as well keep him as a pet. [bANNED TEXT] i seen so far not been impressed. Lamping is NOT coursing . Why do so many people assume that because a dog can stay he must be slow ? Why do so many people think a dog that can catch hares that are given fair law on big land ,cannot do it in smaller fields? Quote Link to post
whippet 99 2,613
a dog that takes 10 minutes to catch an hare should be shot you saying if the dog ran for 10 mins and made the kill at the end youd want to shoot the dog? what wonder dogs have you got pal? look at it this way TEN FECKING MINUTES to catch a hare !!!!! smart dog iv never read a post off yours with anything positive to say! what is there to be positive about ? if a dog runs a hare hard for 3 minutes that dog is using its heart and lungs to the maximum can you imagine what damage a ten minute hard course is going to do all i have said is a dog should not be running a hare for 10 mins a good dog has them wrapped up well before then so you run along and play with your ferrets try and call it off then Quote Link to post

Guest MickyB
keep on topic ey?........... so, has anyone got a link to the course? lol Quote Link to post
shadrack 31
I've seen this dvd and the dog in question never got anywhere near the hare for 9 minutes. If it takes a dog that long to catch a hare then the simple fact is that it has not made the grade and is no good for the job. I run on the fens week in week out and my dogs take on average 2 - 3 minutes to catch their hares with pressure all the way, a good dog should be able to catch a good hare in between 2 and four minutes. Good for you mate! Ive only seen him in the one course talked about on here, and would not presume to judge ANY dog on one run , other than that it confirms the dog has plenty of wind.
