dogs-n-natives 1,182
Moling the other day down the valley, blustery day, spitting with sleet etc... but my day was brightened by seeing a pair of peregrines take a woodpigeon after a good flight, both birds working to catch the bird. The female was seeing off a pair of gutsy corbies when a buzzard pushed the male peregrine off the pigeon and sat there on the kill whilst getting bombarded big style, by the female, the male went and sat in the top of a tall tree in the wood, the coward. I took a crappy video on my mobile of the female bombing the buzzard, and she wasnt going to give up, but I couldnt sit watching them all day, and so i trudged on and the buzzard lifted when it seen me. The perry in hot persuit... I then noticed her come back over after well and truly chasing off the floppy one, I got another wee crappy vid of her as she went over my head, she went back to the kill, and started plucking it, she was shortly joined by the male. I would have been in a great position to get some awesome pics of the birds at the kill and in flight if I only had a camera capable of such things.... but im a tight arse when it comes to spending on things that arnt essential kit.... any help with makes/models of low budget cameras will be much apreciated. Also I would put up the vids, but when I put up a video link from photobucket, people who access the link can look through my entire album, is there any way of stopping this? Cheers DnN
larsen 0
Even if you had a good camera, sod law says you wouldn't have had it with you that day. Must have been great to watch. As for a camera, it depends what you call 'low budget', it's often the lens that is more expensive than the DSLR camera. Or you could look at an all in one camera such as the new Pentax X70 Superzoom, but all the main camera makers will one similar. As for videos, I find YouTube good for them. Paid 935
with photo bucket you can make albums private, which means you can post the link, people can view the linked picture, but not your others. goto the top, click account options, then down the bottom on the left are Album Settings, and theres a box for Public/Private, choose private. MuttleMcTuttle 21
Must have been an amazing sight To get good wildlife pics you really need a DSLR and a long lens. 70-300mm zoom is useful, but this kind of kit is bulky & heavy and not really pocketable Some of the small compact cameras have reasonable zooms, but they do have slow shutter reaction and the quality will never compare to a dslr.
