gnipper 6,488
What would you say was the best bait then? Its not a town fox i'm after and its used to dining on pheasants but doesn't seem too interested in them in the trap so i'm after something a bit more appealing to the b*****d. I've chucked a few pigeons in it earlier and scattered feathers around to catch its attention so fingers crossed but is there anything thats a dead cert? Cheers, gnipper Quote Link to post

OldTrapCollector 377
Sometimes a 'high' or stinking bait works better, or something out of the ordinary - I had a lot of success with fish. Make sure the base of the trap has a covering of soil so the fox is not walking onto wire mesh as they don't like that. A good shower of pigeon feathers is a good draw irrespective of which bait you use. OTC Quote Link to post

Foxy09 3
Country Foxes are alot more wary of cages than there town friends, i disguise mine as best i can , make it look like a run through, as for bait, go to the local fish monger, ask him for a bag of scraps (heads etc) tie a knot in the top of the bag, then punch holes in it, then half bury it placing your trap over it with bait behind the plate obviously, i'd be very surprised if he wasn't in there within 48 hrs. Foxy Is fish that good? I'd be worried about it not working and maybe putting them off and the trap would stink of fish for ages making it useless but if it works I might try it. Cheers, gnipper Fish is best pal, even tinned fish like sardines, like the other poster said, part bury them under the trap, put a covering of soil over the wire floor of the trap and "robert's ya muvvers bruvver".........try it, it works Quote Link to post
