Mr_Logic 5
I have a Meopta R1 4-16x44 which I bought on 2nd Jan. Went on the 243 initially without any problems, but that got sold so it went on my CZ 223. That rifle is normally flawless but had shifting zero problems. Moved it off there and onto the Howa 204, where it did not have sufficient elevation adjustment for a zero at 100 yards. Tried it on my Remington SPS Tactical 223, and it zeroed up OK this evening but only has 6MOA of adjustment left at a 100 yard zero. Mounts on the Howa/Remington are Leupold Standard ones and all tight. The CZ uses a Leupold mount for CZ527. I put a Leupold on the Howa, and after zero at 100 yards, it has about 28 MOA of adjustment left, which is fine. It's just a VX-III 4.5-15x50 long range. I would expect more adjustment from the Meopta, and this combined with the loss of zero on the CZ (where the elevation was again only just sufficient for a 100 yard zero) leads me to believe that the scope is faulty, and thus should be returned for replacement. Is that a fair assessment? What do you guys think? Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
The only thing i could think off is to centre the scope moa adjustment and shim the mounts to make up the difference to weather its hitting high or too low... 6 MOA isn't alot before trying shims i'd count the total MOA adjustment of the scope and compare it to the spec of the scope....... If thats ok shims are the next step...... let me know how you fair mate....... Quote Link to post
Fidgety 8
Had this with an Optimate (Edgar brothers) Sent back, found to be faulty. Replaced under warranty. Quote Link to post
Yokel Matt 918
I use a Meopta 7x50 on my 6.5 and have to say that when i tried to bore site it i thought i was going to have to shim the mounts which turned out not to be the case when i actually started shooting If the rifle is not holding zero (having been proven to do so with another scope) i'd assume the scope was at fault. That model scope isn't cheep and shiming the mounts is something you shouln't need to do, i'd make sure the scope isn't faulty or it will always be in the back of your mind and confidence in equipment is important... then its only yourself you have to blame Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
Yep, looks like I'll take it back. Anyone know who is the importer for Meopta? I don't fancy a long wait so would be good to check service. TBH, Sportsman should swap it over, being Sale of Goods Act and all that... Quote Link to post

Yokel Matt 918
Supply may be a problem on some models with Meopta. Last i heard the company had won a large military contract and was focusing production on that side on things, not to mention the FX rate making the import more expensive (not that thats your problem in this case).. don't be suprised of they offer you an alternative as a replacement. Mr_Logic 5
I spoke to Sportsman the other day, they said they'd send it off and weren't happy when I said I didn't want that, so this could be fun Quote Link to post
Yokel Matt 918
New i had it somewhere - here's the link for Meopta's UK Distributer: http://www.marchwooduk.co.uk/ Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
Thanks mate, just called and they said if it's a fault then it should be swapped, being only 2 months old. Fingers crossed then! Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
Resolved. Went to the Sportsman and received very good service. Scope swapped over, they didn't have another Meopta so I got a Leupold VX-III 6.5-20x50 long range with Varmint Hunter reticle. Seems clear enough to me, just got to decide whether I use it for the 223 target rifle or the 204 fox gun... Hmmm.... Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
good result there mate, It's hard to beat quality service.......... i however have heard poor complaints about sportsman too, A good result...... Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
Yes I've heard some horror stories of the Sportsman too, so thought it only fair to go on record and say they were good this time. Quote Link to post
