Hi Anthony,

Yes, it is American Black Walnut - i have seen the timber myself up close and personal, and he got it from a woodyard/timber merchant local to where he lives. this is a good way to get hold of timber to make stocks out of.

It certainly beats paying over the top proces from the internet gun stock blank suppliers - I got my walnut timber from my own local timber merchant when i made my stock. much cheaper, and you get to select the timber yourself as well, instead of relying on the choice of someone else.

I hope this helps you mate? :)

Regards,

Grim.

as grim said it is american black walut and after hunting through a lot of timber finally picked a piece, after seeing what,s on offer i would be wary about purchasing a bit without inspecting it first so you can pick a nice grained piece, the stock is now oiled and back together and cant wait ta give it a try, looks great ta me. i will be making another one soon as i got the bug now, plans already being drawn up so i may sell this one if all goes well , any offers post-27947-1236424625_thumb.jpg

Indeed I do guys! ;)

Unfortunately :( , I think you will most certainly find it will not fit the S200 - because on the S200, you have a length of threaded studding bar that comes down from the action behind the trigger block at an angle of approx 45 degrees? The purpose of this studding is to secure the stock to the action, and of course, you would also have to mark and drill this [Midge's stock] stock for 1, maybe 2 other stock securing screws too.

Add to that already said, the fact that this was designed around Midge's hands, and that may well make it a bit more difficult for it to fit in with the S200's studding bar. :hmm:

I may well be wrong, of course, but it's just something you may need to bear in mind with regards to the S200 action.

All the best,

Grim.

The stock looks mint but does it work in practice? it may fit you like a glove in one position but what about another say prone etc. it would be nice to know the true practicality. this may sound inconstructive but still let us know how it handles in real situations
