snoopdog 1,256
why have a dog that takes ten mins to kill a hare ....the olny reason a dog would run that long behind a hare is because its got a shit mouth.,....2 - 3 -4 and even five mins yes.....but 10 or 11 mins....fook that......slip the dog go for your breakfeast and come back its still on the same hare....... .... brock 11
im with snoops on this one, dont like the type that just follow a hare for ever, good dogs either take within a few minutes or pressure the hare that much it will get to cover.but you still have to have a hell of a gutsy dog to stay 10 mins Quote Link to post

dirtwinger 235
Agree with some of the lads here I prefer a shorter course. I'm not a fan of watching salukis dissapear into the distance and coming back ten minutes later. I like my dogs to put pressure on early and get the hare turning. Coursing is a visual sport and I want to be able to see it. Plus hunting in the desert like I do there is a greater chance of dogs overheating on the long runs. Dogs that can do the long long runs are impressive in their way just not for me. all the best Dirtwinger Quote Link to post
