Guest anonymous
Longest course I've ever experianced was in the pub........... 10 minutes was the average. It's amazing how good a dog is in a pub but f**k me, it ain't nothing compared with on here........ The longest courses are bound to be the fen guys, there dogs can't pick up a hare unless its f****d!!! They reckon this is good but hey ho.............. I've been racking my brain trying to think of the longest course I've seen but it's not as if you have a stop watch ready and we all know that memorys always make things last longer........... (added by the wife) I reckon the longest I've seen one of my own dogs course would have been roughly................. 89 maybe 90 minutes lol, naaa seconds.. Probably a minute and a half but that could even be exaggerated. Dunno, just know it was a great chase etched in the memory and the lad caught it. Quote Link to post

jamie7344 271
my mate had rosco he used to get stingers all the time, the quickest kill i seen him have was 3 min +,and it wasn't thru lack of a strike because when he did wear his hare down he'd take it out well, but just had no style at all a complete follower Quote Link to post

Guest gaz100604
i have a 3/4 saluki 1/4 grey hope get him on a few big fellas around xmas time , i perfer dog able end it sooner than 8 or 9 10 mins i mean if a good deerhound x collie x grey etc can bang a big fella and the course ends after three 4 mins with alot of pressurisng and turning of the hare id perfer that than a boring ol saluki plodding along behind a hare for 10mins , sure the saluki has bags stamina but is that it???? wheres the skill , i reckon a dog that can get it quicker is the better dog imo showes intelligence speed determination and excitement afterall who wants watch a arsnel vs chleasa boring nil nil, when you can have liverpool vs newcastle 8 goal thriller . riohog 5,816
ye ok if the dog hapens to make a quick kill well fair enough depends on the game and the land its running on and whether its been sliped at 20 or 100 yards i like to se long courses its the spectacle of the chase proves the dogs got the tenacity to see it through to the kill or the game escapes Quote Link to post
