Many thanks sorry i haven't got back to everyone indiviguely, thanks for the information. The general opinion seems to be to get rid!,that leaves me to my next question,How do i get rid of it?,do i need a fac to sell it on?,if i took it to an antiques dealer would he be obliged to call the police?.It would be a shame to dispose of it or break it up.What i like about it is when i pick up the stick,it makes me wonder how many people have had it since it was made and how much game has been taken with it,thats why i dont really want to break it up.Happy Hunting,Hunterside.

has to be legaly de activated birmingham proof house with certificate to compliy with firearms law

True, if it's like a deactivated shot gun, it needs to be deactivated in three ways, the firing pin(pins) has to be removed and weld up, the chamber(s) has to be plugged and welded, and the barrel(s) has to be milled out to prevent use.

Country Life's post just goes to show the attitude that is prevalent though, even when you do the right thing.

look at my link above there is one on guntraer for £500

Ive clicked on the link and had a look,my stick is a lot older than that, the only reason i excepted the price is because the woodwork is in very poor condition, the stick is split in places, but the firing mechinism is in good order. One of the other reasons ive excepted the offer is because i dont fancy doing porridge for having a concealed firearm!.If my deal falls through ive had a couple of pm's from lads on here that are interested in a private deal.
