Hi all, while out and about at my local car boot i noticed a table that had bits and peices of junk and stuff but what caught my eye was a bundle of 6 tatty walking sticks for a fiver.I cant resist a bargain and managed to knock him down to 4.50 lol. When i got home i inspected the sticks and in the middle of them was a tatty lurcher head handle stick(it is really tatty and has seen better days). At first i was going to cut the handle off the stick and remount it,as i was about to do this, the stick gave up his little secret!,im looking for any info that you can give me,like age, where its from and value. The only thing i can find on it is a makers mark on the underside of the breach which is (TE) this was too small to take a photo!.

Incredibly ingenious pieces of kit, also very highly illegal, 5 year term as standard for possession of a Section 5 Prohibited Weapon.

As said the principle is highly illegal today, however there are dispensations for old/antiques, not sure of the detail so check with the police but I think it has to either be at least 100years old or pre 1900, not sure why I think that just something at the back of my mind.

If it is an original and old...not a copy, it is worth substantially more than you paid, but don't think about a world cruise!!

An antique in Firearms terms these days is pre-1939, but there are other age limits for certain weapons, 1900 and 1895 seem to be common dates ;) But that is generally for Obsolete calibres, it is very rare that a gun that is still in good condition and chambered for a round that is still commercially available can be regarded as an antique in Justice's eyes.

That looks like its chambered in .410 to me, as a lot were as well as 9mm, .360 etc etc.

Get it De-act or get rid.

I think you are a lucky bugger. I started making sticks last summer, When the misses drags me around these boot sales Ive alays got an eye open for somthing special, never happens to me though..

Well spotted its a shame about the law, perhaps your FLO will be able to advise you with de-activation..

I was handed a .25 semi- auto pistol a couple of years ago by a work mate who was cleaning out his mothers loft. I took it to a gunsmith who then told me he would not be able to de-activate it, and will have to inform the police.

That same Sat evening about 22:00 a demanding knock at the door revield 6 coppers, I invited them in, as you do, they turned the place upside down, as everthing was in order ie, guns shells amo numbers serials etc, they left, but they didnt look very happy as they did. I guess they where rubbing their hands thinking they would be fealing my collor tonight.

Howeveer the officer in charge did give me some usefull info about the gun of which I passed on to my mate, as the gun belonged to his grandad, an old war vet.

Morral is be carfull, but stay legal... otherwise YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR TICKET AND GAIN A NICE HOLIDAY BEHIND BARS...:icon_redface:
