recommend a book

evening,i already have 2 labs and i am thinking about getting a lurcher, not decided on what type yet though. so was wondering if any of you could recommend a good book for training them? i would be using the dog for ferreting and marking and lamping etc.

The book that I have found the best, some training methods he states are ones that have worked when all others have failed, is 'The New Complete Lurcher' by Brian Plummer.

Yeh mate I think the complete lurcher was a cracker and jackie drakeford the working lurcher I found to be a good read.

nothing like the real thing ,find some willing to take you along ,first hand knowledg is better than any story book .

cheers for the reply's lads, my mate that i go ferreting with has a dog, it does the rabbits,marking lamping etc and i am forever picking his brain but just wanted something useful and informative to read at home and work on a subject that i find very interesting.

thanks mate,ive had my use from the book,now let someone else benefit,you should know by now mate the majority of us hunting folk are decent,and il help fellow hunters allday long if i can
