BlueCoyote 0
I recently took a trip to the blue ridge mountains (DISASTER of a trip but the scenery was at least very nice) While i was there i noticed this particular kind of tree in various places. I dont know if its a native or if it was planted as an ornament - in other words it comes from some other country- the place i saw it most often was on the side of the road very randomly, and also in the towns. the further south we went the fewer trees i saw like this. On the other hand it reminds me of one growing not far from where i live. I havent been down that road in ages so i'm not sure if they are the same or if my memory is playing tricks. Anyway if anyone knows.... please? tell me! Edited February 27, 2009 by BlueCoyote

BlueCoyote 0
Wellingtonia i would say from that pic i just looked that one up and the leaves are similar but the over all shape of the tree doesnt match up with the one i saw also the cones of the Wellingtonia are short and round the ones from my tree are long and skinny. ETA here's another pic, you can see what the cone looks like. and its strange how the needles hang down like moss... i've never seen a tree like it before and i want one - but i dont know if its worth it or possible if they cant grow this far south. And yes it WAS HUGE!! Edited February 27, 2009 by BlueCoyote
