DUCKWING 302 Posted October 5, 2004 Report Share Posted October 5, 2004 WELL BOYS , MY PROJECT FOR SOME OF THESE WET WINTER DAYS ............IS A COUPLE OF NEW LARSONS I ALWAYS TRY TO MAKE ONE FOR MYSELF AND THEN GIVE THE OTHER TO A FRIEND WHO MAYBE HASNT THOUGHT OF PUTTING ONE TO USE !! I WILL FINISH THE DOZEN I AM MAKING BEFORE THE SPRING AS I HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE THE BEST TRAPPING PERIOD FOLLOWED BY THE FLEDGEING OF THE NEW YOUNGSTERS TO BE HONEST ITS UNBELIVEABLE WHERE ALL THE MAGPIES COME FROM ......EVERY YEAR THERE SEEMS TO BE MORE & MORE !!! TO DATE THE MOST PROLIFIC CATCHING TRAPS SCORE WAS 36 IN ONE WEEK BOY THEY WERE QUEUEING UP TO JUMP IN SO LADS ...ANY OF YOU LOT USE THEM ? ....IF SO WHATS YOUR NORMAL CATCH PER WEEK ? ....ANY PREFERANCE SIDE DOORS OR TOP ? SO DECIDED TO TRY A TRAP.....THE ONE I USED WAS A COMBINATION OF A SIDE & A TOP DOOR TRAP, BAITED IT WITH A FEW EGGS ...........AND BINGO !!!!..........SIDE DOOR FIRST TO SCORE !!! HAD 3 SINCE !! ANYWAY WE ARE MOVING INTO THE MOST PRODUCTIVE TIME FOR A LARSON ....SO I KNOCKED ANOTHER UP ....FEW COATS OF MY TRADEMARK GREEN WOODSTAIN AND BOBS YOUR UNCLE !! ...ANOTHER JOB WELL DONE I WAS GOING TO SET IT UP TODAY BUT THE WEATHER WAS BLOODY BAD ....AND I HAD 3 TON OF SOIL TO DIG & BARROW ....FUNNY THING IS I NEVER NOTICE HOW MUCH WE HAVE SHIFTED WHEN WE ARE OUT WITH THE TERRIERS ANYWAY ...I WILL SET UP THE NEW MODEL AND SEE IF I CAN TRAP MY FIRST WITH SOME EGGS ....YEP THE TIGHT NORTHUMBERLAND SOD TOOK MY LAST CALL BIRD TOO !!!!
