jaegervulpes 0
It sounds like she doesn't fully understand that you want the dummy retrieved otherwise she would retrieve it as if the gate/fence weren't there. I guess try to reinstate that the dummy is what you're wanting to be bought back, go over the top on praise or give a treat when doing a normal retrieve and that should fix it in her mind, then try with an obstacle. Hope that gets across what I meant to say! Quote Link to post

Teach her to hold the dummy, by placing it in her mouth, close her mouth and tell her hold, get her holding it on command, then throw the dummy over a small fence, when she picks it up, tell her "hold" then call her over, repeating hold. Persevere it works. Quote Link to post
matty73 4
just like you train to jump start her retrieving over low obstacles first with light dummy then gradually increase height and weight as confidence grows Quote Link to post
moocherboi 8
as matty73 said. get your lurcher to retrieve over something small 1st, then increse the hieght as the dog becomes more confident. i started my lurcher over small piece of wood in a door way no higher than a 1ft then 2ft etc. also keep the dummy light to start with, i used a small soft toy. good luck with the trainning.
