Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm new to hunting and shooting and since I'm new, I will be chalked full of questions,

Anyway, what's your opinions on the two brands [Winchester or Federal Premium] center fire, rimfire/ shotshell, and please don't be biased.

Thanks Guys,

I have at the moment a pretty low opinion of Federal Premiums.

I had a real bad batch from my RFD, to the point where standard Federals were grouping better than there more expensive sibling.

I dont know if you can see from the picture. Its not very clear.

From Left to right.

Sako , Fedprem, Fed.

The finishing on the Fed Prem is shite in comparison to the Sako and even the Fed standard. And the group is far wider at all ranges.

Maybe I had a bad batch, but they are not worth in the extra money in my rifle.

Both make good ammo.

But this doesnt mean it will shoot well in your rifle.

You need to try as many different makes untill you find the one that gives the best results in your rifle.

This maywell mean it wont be Winchester or Federal Premium.

I shoot a AR-15 .223 and coudlnt get any factory ammo to go better than a inch at 100 yards.

Believe me i tried them ALL!!!

So i went down the reloading route and the very first batch went 1/2 inch...

So if accuracy is what, you want RELOAD your own.

Happy Hunting.

SL.
