mudman 14
Hi, anyone got any tips to increase my catch rate on rats? I'm using Mk4's in wooden tunnels, mainly positioned adjacent to pheasant feeders. Caught a fair few initially but now the survivors (still lots of em) are trap shy and avoiding the boxes/ traps. Still picking up the very occasional one in traps positioned well away from the feeders but they are few and far between. Quote Link to post

Corky(amateur) 0
Hi mudman, i should think that you are using wheat/grain from the feeders as bait? try using teco's value peanut butter (just cuz its cheap and high in flavours/additives) and smear it real thin on the trap plate and a tiny layer underneath too. this will make the rat lik the plate, and continue to sniff untill he goes over the trap to get under the plate! SNAP! just something we've had succes with best of luck Corky Edited February 26, 2009 by Corky(amateur) Quote Link to post
mongoose 39
Try making it so there is a run with logs or something to guide the rats into your trap so they can't go round them so easy.... as well as the other suggestions.... Quote Link to post

Try useing white bread for your bait, Always work"s for me ,If that dont work get some ferrets and terriers. Quote Link to post
