What's anti's? Sorry all but I'm not up with the lingo.

People who talk of the "slaughter" of rabbits...............

Oooh Sorry :icon_redface:

Don't mean any offence and we only use that term as a way to quietly giggle about 'the families in the park' expected reaction.

Be gently on me, I'm ignorant

Any pics of your dogs ??

Good choice of words to use.......'slaughter'...........

Yeah well we have to laugh about it! We want somewhere 'deep' in farm land with no roads to worry about. Also looking to learn more about working them. The saluki x is a stunning specimen of muscle and is a very adept hunter....even things she really shouldn't but no one saw so .....PHEW!

My first piece of advice before you venture anywhere near farmland is make sure your dogs are 100% STOCK BROKEN then and only then consider taking your dogs and letting them off in the countryside also make sure recall is spot on as once your dogs see stock or happen upon new scents they will be gone possibly never to return

Thanks Chaz

My lurcher isn't good with stock so we only allow him off when we can see all surrounding fields. I discovered this by accident but thankfully no harm done. I need to know how to turn him off livestock so any advice would be greatly received.

The recall is mainly good but not foolproof. The saluki x is great and he usually sticks with her but I know this isn't good enough. I haven't had him long but I know this is no excuse. We are a work in progress.

Yes but I'm not sure how to resize them so I can get them on here. My pics are too large.

Ok - let me start off by apologising for my 'throw away' remark about slaughter. I really didn't mean to offend anyone. I have NO issues about hunting. I am pleased that my Lurcher has the chance to do what comes naturally to him. I just want to do it in a safer environment than the local parks.

Once again, I'm sorry.

the words alarm bells and ringing spring to mind, dont know why.......a pic of your dog/dogs might help....before you say i dont know how

step 1) go to "my pictures" on your computer and right click on the picture

step 2) click on "resize pictures" and choose "small" then "okay"

step 3) your computer will create a copy of the image with "(small)" writen next to it

that bit is so the file is small enough, then...........

step 4) when writing your next comment use the "attachment editor" below and browse for the image with "(small)" next to it

step 5)upload it

step 6) then click on the drop down box with "manage current attachments" written in it and you should see the name of the image, click the green cross

couldnt be more simple really

Ok I understand now about the hostility. Told you I was ignorant ;)

I have put links to my images but will get much better pics of them. Have some great ones from the beach last week but still on camera. I'll dig them out and put them on the way you suggested. Thanks. Any insight into what might make up my lurcher would be interesting. I'm sure there's deerhound in him.

you can go werever you like just dont get cought
this is what this site has to offer ,advice to novices from novices that think they know all the correct answers .

Jessy - I don't wish to get into any slanging matches here but I would like to point out that having read a few of your posts you seem to like stirring things up. I AM a novice and don't wish to become an expert in anything. I am more than happy to take advice from anyone offering it and to use my own intelligence to interpret it how I see fit. An 'off-the-cuff' remark about not getting caught made me smile, NOT want to go out in army combats and twigs in my hair! Not everything in black and white IS black and white.

On the note of novices I'd like to quote one of your previous posts..........sounds to me {and i dont know any thing } like a case of some thing different ,we cant have that so lets get rid of it incase it changes the way we have always done things .a typical british reaction.

You'll notice how I highlighted a particular section?

One more quote (as I'm feeling generous) from your posts.........if you dont have a decent answer then ,please dont make any more stupid remarks ,thanks.

Can I offer you two words? PRACTICE.......PREACH

Surely this would be a nicer place to be without unnecessary comments meant only to annoy?

hope you keep on geting sutch advise , like you pointed out what do i know ,im only on here because im a novice ,like most .and thanks for your generosity ,numpty ,o look im becoming a proper thl member now .

you come to expect stupid and ignorant comments from alot of people on here. think nothing of it Lola, theres still some good advice on here, you just have to look

Thanks, I'll just ignore any daft comments now. It's all good and well putting witty retorts but then it just escalates. Best to ignore it. I'll soon work out who the sensible ones are, thanks again.
