Fair Game the only way of working a dog that I've critisised is using dogs of any kind to fight badgers over ground. Thats if you can call that work. I call it bullshit.

The other critisism I made is about those that have been using their own boastings and photos on the net to enhance their own egos.

It's these actions that's caused the reason trouble. SIMPLE AS THAT.

Now if anyone wants to stick up for all the foolishness thats causing decent lads to loose their terriers and feel like criminals then they're fools too.

The bottom line is that good terriers are going to get killed and good lads are going to get in trouble.

Those that deserve it ???????? They've only themselves to blame.

I don't know if the recent press will push forward to a ban as in england, or if the law will stay thd same. Have very little confidence in the authorities to do what is fair. Will give in a lot to pressure groups, or those that benefit themselves. Whatever will happen is in the future, for the present the media will make it very hard for honest hunters. I got a funny look the other day from the owner of a house who I pass very regularly. They knnow me and my dogs and see me a lot, but I noticed a difference, and can only put it down to me having two dogs and carrying a spade.

 

That doesn't bode well for things. As i said proper dog men will likely and rightly so close ranks to new comers, and farmers may not want to take a chance on strangers, who only want a fair chance to do honest work.

THE LAW IN IRELAND IS NOT one of my strong points , but that is irrelevant , the lacs and antis are the same over there , your version of the rspca are the same bar the title , your government will use them as the easy option as do the British government , the biggest threat to you sport is the fools who let us all down , the braggers the macho boys , with no respect for man nor beast , , who think they can run round digging and lamping were and when they like , then when the shite hits the fan crawl back to were they came , but by then the media has dragged the rest of us down , we can not walk down a street with terrier and a spade withought attracting a stare , WE ALL DONT HAVE A SHOOT AND PRIME PERMISSION BUT I HOPE, we go about in manner that dose not attract attention and give the quarry we hunt and dig the respect its due , some say who do you think you are telling us how and when to dig , fair play to you do it your way if every one did and kept them selves to them selves it would be great , but alas this is 2009 the age of the PC , were people can join sites like this this and say and post pictures of are sport and feed the antis with pictures they would never have had access to , the journalist that wrote the piece did not have to try hard to get access , learn from this , antis the old bill etc monitor these sites , Ive said it once ill say it again , the only way to beat them is don't feed them

The way we like to do it is breakthrough to the terrier, break him off the game, get him tethered up and out of the way then sort the game out ourselves...I don't see a need for lurchers/drawdogs at a dig, if anything they get in the way but it's each to their own I guess?

Just to clear it up, I wasn,t walking down a public road. Would be asking for trouble that way. I live in a wee village and only have to step out of my front gate and cross a country road, to get up the lane to my ground. It was the owner of a house up this lane that passed me. Never had anything but a wave from them and the man and his father both talk to me regularly. Just noticed it was odd, but could be nothing. The only reason I carry the spade is that I used to take a walking stick. Makes it easier when it's

muddy, but the jrt is digging at rat holes so I swopped the stick for the spade.

it will eventually be banned in n ireland as our goverment is now a british minded goverment

whoever gets the most money from the lacs will push it through

it will become like over here ive seen the changes already when im back home digging

also fairgames right about certain dog men looking down at others

they get a good dog and they think theres no one like them

instead of helping young men out they tell them to f/ck off

to many hitlers in the dog game for me

i personally would take any young person out hunting if they showed a healthy interest

thats the only way we can keep hunting is to teach the young ones coming up

I dont know if you have some problem with the Irish or whats your story but you seem like a propper goul! what neil is saying is right and it sounds to me that you are one of the chaps that condones shite in the sport and ruins it for others. There has to be some boundaries in the current climate especially. and I think thats the point the lads are making. If everyone sticks to basic rules there will be less chance of the sport being ruined.

Jesus lads dont take it to serious its not the end of the world.These things have been happening all the time it comes and goes.The hunting men of Northern Ireland wont stop doing their thing over some little thing like that.The brits with their choppers and watchtowers could not stop them for over 30 years this is only small fry.The boys i know up there are to long on the road to get excited by this storm in a tea cup.

While I agree Liam about the fighting spirit of our Northern Ireland fellow sportsmen I disagree about it being only small fry.

The first man to be raided last Saturday is a fox hunting man but that fame seeking dictator Phillpot (or as his workmates call him "Potfill") has taken this mans foxhunting dogs and pet staff.

Phillpot over the last year has emptied the North of pit bull type dogs and yes ,some of them belonged to illegal dog fighters. A lot on the other hand didn't.

Phillpot has publicly said that he'll empty the North of terriers. And this murderer will try.

The Countryman to him is an easy target and the publicity will get him the fame he seeks. It's not about animal welfare to him as some of his workmates and Northern vets question his motives and methods.

He knows he wont get prosecutions but he knows he'll get the dogs. Just try and get your dogs back in a court of law even if you've not been found guilty of anything. IN FACT, most owners of confiscated dogs wont even try. And Phillpot knows this, thus the dogs get killed.

My opinion on the whole thing is that if Phillpot gets all or most or even some of the asshole cowboys who are fighting badgers on top with dogs and then filming it or boasting (at shows ,on the net etc. etc.) out of the dog game then Phillpot will have done the proper lads a big favour.

IN FACT this is not JMHO. I've had several good terriermen this week say to me that this current situation might weed out the scum within the doggy game.

 

 

P.S. I know my comment will upset the macho men but they can f**k off. They done enough damage.
