neil cooney 10,416
Would that be the same Mr Westmoorland who on a video said that you shouldn't dig to a terrier, you should wait for it to come out and then sit back waiting for the fox to bolt Pabs ???? Legends of the game ? And he standing beside a man who wouldn't breed of one who couldn't worry a fox regularly. Nice pics though Glyn. i cant take credit for the photos Sean Frain first posted them to advertise his new book , Neil you shouldn't be to bothered about little quotes or misquotes, these northern boys had a very quick dry humor, i've meet a few over the years and your never sure if they are imparting some knowledge to you or taking the piss .....as far as i'm concerned both men kept and breed the very best there was at their time i will always think highly of them because without their input i would not of owned bred and worked and had so many years of fun with terriers He said it Glyn on the very same video that your good self is on, the F and M one. Look, I realise that the leading star (yourself) mightn't know all his supporting casts lines but that's what he said. 1 Quote Link to post
Dabhand 887
Met mr westmorland about 4 seasons ago seemed a nice knowledgeable chap,he was still keeping terriers at the time. I think the type of places he used to work the dogs neil you could only wait for a dog to come out as most wer not soil holes 1 Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,416
I understand that Woods. But what he said was something like that nowadays lads are too quick to dig instead of waiting for the terrier to come out, stand back and wait for the fox to bolt. I know the man has a well deserved reputation but sometimes those who have a legendary status in the game are not all they seem. Also IMO the gentleman is probably more of a hound man than a terrierman and hound men rarely have a good standard when it comes to terriers. They want their terriermen to be the best but not necessarily the terrier. I seen an interview with Mr George Newcombe once and he stated he was completely against badger digging, and he working terriers in a time when badger digging was legal and respected whilst breeding 18lb 16 inch terriers ??? No disrespect to anyone because it's a hard game to get any respect at all but just always found Mr Westmorland's opinion strange but one that he's completely entitled too. Quote Link to post
