jultaylor1972 2
We started off the day at around 8am, netted up a set and put the ferrets in, waited a little while and had the first bolt of the day. After a short dig by Stu and four rabbits in the bag we moved on to a nice flat set a bit further up while the two apprentices (Little Daz and Jamie) took the rabbits to the motor. After another short wait we had four more in the bag! We moved up to another set and it was at this point I lost count of the rabbits, this is where most of the digging took place and Stu dug my albino jill out on a rabbit! Check out Stu’s pink gloves!! (He’ll kill me for this) Then both Daz and Stu dug to her again a little while later which entailed two four foot holes then she bolted the rabbit a few feet away Stu as usual was like a whippet getting the bolted rabbit!! But then a moment of reflection when he discovered he’s lost a purse net! Daz and Stu netted up here and a rabbit bolted just as we were going to get the ferrets out, it slipped the net but Stu managed to get the tail end of it before it made an escape to freedom! Then we moved on and up and decided to put the longnets around this tree, we waited for a little while the all hell broke loose, a rabbit hi the net at the top end just as another one made for the bottom end, Stu and Daz were both on them when another hit the net closely followed by Daz’s jill! Then the keeper came and got out his shot gun. Poor Jamie nearly died when he let off a shot at a rabbit further up the hill , one rabbit bolted to freedom but didn’t get very far when the keeper shot it! We got a few in the nets here too. Stu and Daz went and did one last set with the keeper who decided that Sox should have a run on a rabbit, he caught it and headed towards the motor where I was and gave it to me, nice one Sox! All in all another brilliant day in great company with a final bag of 26! Little Daz and Jamie were a great help as always, cheers lads for a great day, oh, I’ve bought you both a nice pair of ‘green’ gloves as the pink ones didn’t do much for your street cred!
