BEARINATOR 2,867
Welcome to the site mate, how are you shooting is it free standing or resting on something, as if your resting on something a springer can jump causing accuracy problems Quote Link to post
Big bald beautiful 1,231
try it grouping closer to you it could be the way you hold it from shot to shot, it could be you snatching at the trigger loose mounts on the scope, lots of reasons. i would try it closer in say 10 yrds. then if its still a problem , then post up and we can go from there. davyt63 1,845
hi Gary I'm not familiar with the BSA range,do a check on the scope and mounts make sure every thing is finger tight. i use to have a AATX200HC under lever and this was a beast i eventually got the hang of it. and in your case then practice makes perfect? try not to lean it on any thing because of recoil unless it is padded and well supported then take a shot at the A4 sheet you have put up and take a shot at the middle of it {don't bother with the circle for now } and just try and try to hit pellet on pellet and adjust your cross hairs accordingly. also control your breathing and nice n steady she goes? you will get there in the end or join a air rifle club they will be able for hands on help hope this helps regards davy Quote Link to post
punydan 0
Hi and welcome, spring guns can be tricky, I know only to well. Try to be as consistant as posible with your hold and genarally a light grip is better than a firm one as this allows the rifle to recoil, like a canon. Also try to find a club to join as there will be lots of knowlegable people to help and give advice. Also it gives you lots of oppatunity to practise. Atb Dan. :welcomeani: Quote Link to post
RAMCAM 4
hi im gary im a newbie with airguns i have a bsa lightning and im trying to sight my scopes at 20 yards im trying my best to hit a target the size of a 50p but my grouping is all over im getting shots all over the target (i use a A4 size sheet of paper with a small circle in middle). i cant understand why the shots are so far apart. is it the way i shoot? is the trigger to hard? i dont know any advice would be great cheers guys Scope it off on a cushion, don't use cheap pellets ask at your local gunshop what pellet they would recommend, don't hold the springer tightly, Instead of pulling the trigger squeeze your thumb and fore finger, after scoping in don't hold the rifle near the end of the stock hold it quite close to the trigger guard. Hope this helps mate good luck. Edited March 2, 2009 by RAMCAM Quote Link to post

aaronpigeonplucker 32
yeah but id o think that was a fluke. i was just cheking the snares and hapened to have the gun with me. i saw 2 rabbits 100 yards away and just sat down watching them through my scope then after 10 mins of wathing them one just popped out. i was resting the gun on my knee in FT position and i figured this is a lot more accurate then resting it on a ttable like ai usually do. and i was supposed to say i had the same problem with my lightning. LOGUNSOLO177 0
Could be Scope creep (meaning the scope mounts are not sufficient) Pellet choice are you using a good brand pellet? But from what you have said (Elbow resting on you knee) It sounds like thats your problem! When zeroing a rifle you need to have the gun as stable as possible ie rest or bipod. When you rest your elbow on your knee it does not make for a stable platform. As the point of your elbow is not flat it will make you wobble and create a unstable balance. Try this or better if you can lay down and rest the the rifle on a stable support like a bag or pillow. Hope this helps!!! Quote Link to post
