smasher 1,055
A friend of mine is going to the states this week and i have asked him to bring me back a scope,I was thinking about a leupold vx111 4.5-14-50,its to go on a 17hmr mainly for rabbits and also the odd fox on the lamp,im also looking into getting a 223 for lamping foxes so it might end up on that,i was thinking about a duplex retical as it seems a safe bet,i would be interested in getting some opinions from you lads,do you think this is a good choice of scope or would you recommend another, Quote Link to post

Would go down well for long range foxing. Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
ALL my scopes are now Mildot, but it's down to personal choice, can't get on with the Duplex any more and the Boone & Crocket is really just a small Chritmas tree..too small for me...but there are Loads of reticles, even Leupold has masses! So it really is personal choice, many (MOST) will promote the reticle they use!! ATB!!! Quote Link to post

SNAP SHOT 194
take a look here mate you may see something you like reticle choice is very personal so it's down to you only to see what you like the look off... plus what uses your using it for... http://www2.leupold.com/products/reticles.htm Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
I have the Leupold 4.5-15x50 with Boone and Crockett. Had it on the HMR for about 2 weeks, worked well. I whacked it on the 308, although it will be going on the Hornet when I get that. Good scope. You can get the first line to be about a mil, can't remember the mag though. Much over that and you're pushing the calibre too far for normal use anyway. But, as has been said, reticle choice is a personal thing. It's going to be down to try it and see, I'm afraid. B&C works for me, it has enough aiming marks to help me, but is simple enough for night work. I wouldn't get their Varmint ret, looks very cluttered. Quote Link to post
danebrewer10 6
I don't really think you need a mil dot ret, I've used a 30/30 ret on my .22 air rifle for ages, I'll be getting another for my .17 hmr when i get that, and with a MPBR of about 250 yd for the .223, you only really need a 30/30, IMHO mil dot reticles are really for military or police users where they shoot with heavier calibers over much longer distances, with more bullet drop, i don't really think they're necessary but that's my opinion, if i get one and find it useful, I'll gladly eat my words!
