Talking pre ban obviously - What would you do with late season educated foxes? Say for example you can see them and there out of slipping range either because there on the brow of a hill and as soon as the dogs off so will charlie out the beam or just the ground Is too much for the dog to make up before the fox reaches cover. You've tried all the calls you have and still the fox Isn't moving anywhere but Isn't going away from the sqeek, Just stopped sitting/standing In that spot. So what do you do then? Driving the fields and getting the dog out of the window Isn't an option before anyone suggests that ;)

Cheers,

If you catch a fox from somewhere else[fresh kill] ,Put the fox in the field were ever and he and others will smell its scent and come and mooch for it,Let me no how you get on !!!!

i wouldnt recomend driving round with dead foxes in the motor

Exactly. I won't be telling you how I got on either......Unless I'm shooting them :) I was going to take the rifle actually but nothing ever goes to plan with me so It's In pieces waiting to get fixed. I'm a shit shot anyway so couldn't take the shot at the didstances that the foxes were at.

haha so cos you never done it, it cannae be done..........

i aint saying or disputing what a fox can an cant see

just stating what i have seen wae my own 2 eyes

try it.............................

you are the master :notworthy:

No need to be a smart cuunt this is supposed to be a site for discussion .....its just I know what im talking about and you obviously dont

I personally don't think the fox sees any better than any other dog in the dark, turn the light off squeak it up, or you could use a red filter if you don't like the dark! I don't know what cross yer using, but a Bedlington cross being partly a sort of dog that was bred to hunt under ground, will have at least a percentage of the foxes legendary night vision. Foxes, and just about every other night Predator use scent and hearing to find their prey, and avoid bigger predators. Of course as hunting foxes with dogs is an avenue which has been slammed shut in our faces the problem aint gonna arise now isit, A?:gunsmilie:

Why not walk with night vision until you spot the fox, carry on getting closer with the night vision then when you are in range turn the lamp on and slip the dog.

not everyone can afford night vision...
