jazmin 44
I dont see a problem with anyone asking this, mines 29 with a single dog.Micky is right in saying it depends on the land and amount of game on it.The area i live in is over run with rabbits.Big numbers of 50 are possible but if you run your dogs on land with a low head of quarry it dont make your dog crap if you go home with 2 or 3.You cannot catch whats not there. runem 533
11 years ago caught eighty six rabbits with one bitch 25 inches tts, saluki deerhound greyhound mix,no collie in it,was supposed to be a coursing dog.anyway its not clever catching big numbers would call it a day at 30/40 now thats more than enough for any one and any dog.keep the numbers small but regular thats the way to go to get a good lamping dog. poacherkev 64
doesent bother me how many i catch i just like the thrill of watching a good course if they g et away good luck to them Well said Jack Pyke thats about the best post yet .As long as my dogs have a few good runs im happy as you say if they get away you can always run them another day iv been out with mate and we have caught over 40 rabbits in a night with 2 dogs but then you have the problem of carrying them a few miles home so now we have a few runs and with luck catch a few we are happy .You only kill your own sport if you kill to many Quote Link to post

doxhope 2
Well done matie, a good chalk, keep it up..dogs are judged on what they catch, not the ones that get away..if there are rabbits to be had in your area, get them, before someone else, mixy or a hard winter gets them Quote Link to post

brock1 2
Well done matie, a good chalk, keep it up..dogs are judged on what they catch, not the ones that get away..if there are rabbits to be had in your area, get them, before someone else, mixy or a hard winter gets them i dont just judge a dog on what it catchs i have see land where you could get 30+ squaters a night & it whouldnt take a good dog to do it ether my mate has some land he was catching desent numbers with his springer on the lamp but this dog whouldnt tuch a lurcher on the lamp. then i have seen land where it whould take a good dog just to catch 1 rabbit on the lamp.
