Well, what a morning.........

Called to look at a mole job this morning. Nice guy, with six or seven acres of horsey type paddocks.

Anyway, wandered around with the chap, agreed a price, all going really well. As we looked over the boundry, the neighbour comes wandering over. "He's only just moved in" the chap says. Now the neighbours garden and paddocks are in a similar condition. Molehills as far as the eye can see, so my customer kindly introduces me, and I hand over a business card. "If you want me to do your moles at the same time, I'll charge you both a lower rate" (I charge by the mole) I confidently say.

Then it happens......

"It's alright mate" he says.

"My daughters boyfriend traps moles as a hobby, and he's going to sort mine out for nowt".

"No problem" I say, "as long as you are happy with that"

Then he says; "I could get him to sort yours as well" to my client......... :wallbash:

Bloody ameteurs.....

Off I go, on my way home for some lunch before starting another job this afternoon. On route, I pass a local airfield, which has always got a few molehills on it. For once, there is someone about, so I stop to speak to the chap on a ride on mower. As I go through the gate for a quick chat I see it.............

The Spawn of Satan................

Bloody RODENATOR! :censored:

Anyway, I give him all the usual speal, and he tells me how bloody fantastic the rodenator is. "It looks like it" I say, as I glance around at the hundreds of molehills......... :wallbash:

I did.

You know what they are like.... "is it? So what?" :censored:

I didn't push the issue, because I think he may call at some point. The blowing up doesn't seem to be working very well..........

I half thought about going back and getting some pictures (blackmail hasn't featured on my marketing plan yet, but you never know...), but thought better of it as my next call was to my favourite micro brewery..... :drink:

Would i be right in thinking that the rodenator (aka Spawn of satan) is that thing that pumps gas down tunnels then ignites it?

If it is they should make it clear that it cant be used and surly it cant colapse biggish tunnels all that well.

Rodenators will be banned due to accident or illegal use.

Amateur molecatchers will give up when the going gets tough or they become unreliable.

I often get asked by gardeners what the trick is! Cheek!

Giving out trapping tips and charges freely on websites etc just creates more problems for the pros.

So, what DO you charge per mole then Matt? :D
