sniper 1 0
HI THERE GUYS. JUST WANTED TO ASK HAS ANYONE EVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH FEDRAL V-SHOCK 40g SIERRA HOLLOW POINTS IN 22-250. THEY GROUP LOVELY BUT I BROUGHT A BOX FROM WORK CAUSE IM WAITING FOR MY DIES TO RELOAD MY OWN. SO I JUST NEEDDED SOME AMMO TO KEEP ME GOING. IVE NEVER REALLY HAD PROBLEMS WITH FOXES RUNNING AFTER THEY WERE HIT. ONLY THE ODD CASE IF IT WOULDNT KEEP STILL AND I HIT IT ON THE RUN.BUT THESE 40g HP IVE HAD 4 FOXES NOW RUN OFF AFTER BEING HIT HARD. ALL OF THEM WERE HITS IN VITAL AREAS. THE LAST A FRIEND SHOT, IT WAS ABOUT 140 YARDS AHD WHEN WE FINALLY FOUND IT THE BULLET WENT IN JUST BEHIND THE FRONT LEG AND CAME OUT THE OPPOSITE SHOULDER. IN MY EYES A PERFECT SHOT. HAS ANYBODY HAD SIMILAR TROUBLE. THANKS GUYS Edited February 20, 2009 by sniper 1 Quote Link to post

sniper 1 0
do you think it could have been a bad batch maybe. but cheers anyway guys. Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
maybe a bad batch the bullet heads mite not be expanding. if it was me i would use 50 grain bullets in the 22/250 thats what i perfer. abit more speed then 55 grain but hits harder then 40 grains. Quote Link to post
sniper 1 0
cheers jamie. yeah i will try the 50g. Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
sniper1 Terminal speed, weight, composition and what they actually hit makes a lot of difference to expansion of bullets. I have seen lots of different end results with exactly the same ammo from the same gun.....but....if THE BULLET WENT IN JUST BEHIND THE FRONT LEG AND CAME OUT THE OPPOSITE SHOULDER. IN MY EYES A PERFECT SHOT Foxey should have dropped whatever the 22-250 bullet was made off...some adrenalin rush if that ran off!! PS. CAPS LOCK key is usually on the left of the keyboard, all you have to do is touch it once and you can talk like the rest of us Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
SOunds like that should have worked OK - what size exit wound? If the animal has the adrenaline going, you need a massive shock to drop it on the spot. When it doubt, find a poor unsuspecting bunny rabbit and shoot - if it explodes then the bullet is working OK. Not the most scientific test, but rabbits and 22/250 is normally predictable - it's messy... Quote Link to post
