Tikka T3 lite 20 inch barrell .223 cal

Recommended Posts

Hi there

I'm new to the forum - hello there!

I've just purchased a Tikka T3 lite .223 calibre with a 20" barrell with a 1-12 twist.

Can anyone tell me what load is best and how do they perform at 200 yards +?

I intend to use this for fox hunting - is anyone out there using the same rifle and how do you find it?

Thanks,

Patrick

Every single rifle is different, so you will need to try some different ammo in it and see how it performs.

Deker has the 1:8 twist and a full barrel, seems to like most ammo well enough. The T3 is known for its accuracy so when you get the ammo it likes, it will shoot foxes very well indeed, once you're happy it will go well over 200 yards, too.

Mines the T3 Lite Stainless, full length and 1-8 so difficult to comment on ammo, but mine shoots most pretty well, even the cheap stuff.

Had it nearly 2 years now and NEVER been happy with the balance, tried several moderators, mounts, scopes and it's going in for the chop on Saturday...down to 19".

Thanks Mr_logic

I've the ammo fairly well sussed out. I'm using a 50 grain vmax with 27.5 grains of BLC2 and it's going well.

Does anyone have the 20 inch barrell of the Tikka T3 lite? It's the barrell length that I'm enquiring about.

Thanks,

Patrick

If you are into reloading and barrel length you may find this interesting!!!

yes its a new rifle it came with the 20 inch barrel and screwcut. The rifle is grouping under half an inch at 100 metres hope to get it tried out at 200 metres soon. I wasnt sure how the rifle would group further out so far so good.

if i was after a 223 i would have a tikka mate for sure there the best all round accurate rifle on the market for the money i think. i bet it will still group under 1 inch at 200 yards mate just give it time to settle and get use to it
