essexjed 1
HELLO, JUST WANTED TO SHARE MY SAD TALE , IN THE HOPE IT JUST MIGHT SAVE A LOT OF SUFFERING AND PAIN ON BOTH DOG, AND MASTER. I WAS OUT LAST WEEK, IN A BRIEF PAUSE IN THE RAIN WITH "BILLIE" MY 6 MONTH OLD PATTERDALE X LAKELAND, JUST A NORMAL WALK ALONG THE HEDGES AND FIELDS FOR HER LAST TOILET OF THE NIGHT... ALL OF A SUDDEN SHE SPOTTED A COUPLE OF RABBITS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD, SO OVER WE WENT- SLIPPED THE LEAD AND SHE WAS AWAY....AFTER ABOUT WHAT SEEMED LIKE SECONDS I HEARD A BIG SCREECH AND BANG!!!......I WAS GUTTED!! SHE WAS LAYING IN THE ROAD BARKING AND CRYING AND OBVIOUSLY IN A SERIOUS AMOUNT OF PAIN...IT ONLY TOOK SECONDS FOR HER TO LOOSE SIGHT OF ME AND CROSS THAT ROAD. SHE WAS PUT TO SLEEP AT THE VETS LATER THAT NIGHT AND I JUST WISH I HADN'T OF BEEN SO STUPID...PLEASE DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!!!...ITS WAS A VERY SAD NIGHT INDEED. Quote Link to post

Doglost Co-Ordinator 4
So sorry to read this so soon after Twix. No point beating yourself up over it. Dogs do go into shock that blocks pain so I've been told but she was doing what she loved to do. Most of us have lost a dog that we had a special bond with either through illness or accidents. Doesnt make it any better but hopefully by telling people on here some one else will think twice. Go back to doing what you enjoy the most- get outside best thing to do Quote Link to post
