foxing whippet

Recommended Posts

a mate of mine has a whippet with a tiny bit of beddy in it a while back when we were out lamping he slippet it on a fox and the dog managed it grand. now the dog in question is very racy looking almost pure whippet in size and structure very little beddy if any (he was told it was in the strain somwhere).just wondering if any of ye have seen whippet taking fox and did they take much stick because every time i look at the little game dog i think he could get very hurt against reynard. any info greatly appreciated.

whippets are supposed to be good kean dogs on fox as they have very strong prey drive and hearts like lions, if your dog as it in them to take fox they will, and dont be put off by the fragile look of a whippet iv seen some good high speed whipeout and they bonce back up and cantinue a cracking cours finished with a top strike, and catch. ;)

its not something that should be done regularly, in my opinion, but its nice to see a whippet take one when the opportunity arises... i had a whippet/grey that could do them with a real fury although when she did take a bit of stick her skin was too fine for it...

a mate has a wee black whippet about 21"tts and if its on a course the fox doesnt get the chance to put to many turns in :) ...

My Whippet took a large cub one day, he hit it so hard it didn't get a chance to do any damage, whippets realy realy hate Foxes that's hate with a capital F.
