It helps if you are shooting rabbits at night and wood pigeon in the trees. Thats all i can say really, but think you be fine if you dont want one.

NO Not really,

 

While a silencer or MODERATOR, can help with the initial crack from the muzzle, there is a hell of a crack when the pellet strikes a target (especially a head shot on a bunny).

 

People have been hunting for generations without silencers so no they are not a nessecity.

 

I personally think it all comes down to personal preference

on a delicate place like sub urbs or camp site a silencer would porbaly be a good idea as not to disturb pepole.

Depend what air rifle he is using. A lot of air rifles are quiet enough but people like that extra bit of silence added

I have two air guns and i dont think that it is necisary because one has a fitted silenced barrel and the other dosnt. But they are much the same when you fire them.

If your shooting a pcp air rifle yes a springer no because the spring makes more noise than firing the gun

NO, is the answer, but in many situations it will assist both with hunting and staying on good terms with the neighbours..also helps preserve your hearing.

 

And they are Sound Moderators...despite the fact the world has watched a million movies and manufacturers still call them silencers they are Sound Moderators...the only way you will get a Silencer is to put your application on the Home Secretaries desk ATB

im using a springer so it is quite loud. i read on another thread that if you get it tuned you can take some of the twang out of it. does this cost alot and would it put it over the limit, meaning i would have to get fac??

Try HERE, These should sort you out mate, will last a hell of a lot longer than a spring, less recoil and less noise than the spring. , But make sure you get the right one

i say yes silencers,,, sorry sound moderator lol sorry deker mate work helps loads hunting .... + keeps noise down so people happy ... but no if on a springer there loud any way
