Hearing Protection

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend some 'plug-type' hearing protection that allows you to hear ambient sounds but cuts out the noise of the rifle going off.

I've seen the custom made ones which look the part. Does anyone know of somewhere that offers these without asking funny money for them?

Hi

Before you spend you money on custom plugs..try Shooter's Aid plugs. I bought some recently and love em! I have used ear muffs since I started shooting, but you can't hear conversation properly and they move about. Having seen these, I bought some and will not be using muffs again!

For the price, they are great ! I found them online at the following link, but you can get them at most gun shops. http://www.greenfieldguns.com/product.php?id=4

I copy below my post to the same question last August:-

Personally if you value your hearing long term - my advice is stay away from ALL moulded ear defenders - Its not your ear hole that needs protecting but the bit behind the ear. Only bins can protect your hearing properly

Proof of what I am saying is this- How many top flight clay shooters wear moulded ear defenders??? You see, they are better informed than we are to the dangers of sudden loud bangs

I rest my case

mmmmm i remeber summit bout that at my works monthly safety meeting while back they had looked into it and were stopping the moulded type and moving to bins

good point bout high level clay shooters tho.

glad ive went to electronic bins ( pleased with the slinline ones i have )
