just to raise a point, your going on about all the immigrants sponging off out benefit system (which i agree with you upon, needs to be sorted out) but im pretty sure there are many many more born and bred english people who have never worked a day in their lives and they will probably raise kids that will never work a day in their lives and probably contribute as much to the stabbing and shootings as immigrants and so the cycle continues..... now that needs to get sorted before anything else.

A very good point, very well spoken. It's not something that can ever be sorted on here, but it touch's very well on some of the issues that have caused so much bad feeling on here.

All the folks on this forum have (I hope) the best interest of our shared sport and our country at heart. Please let us not loose sight of why we are on here. We love our sport and deplore the f**kwits who may take it away from us all.

Can we all please, remember what we're about and not let this degenerate into stupid insults???

Once again the law being an arse!

Has the handgun ban stopped them being used in 'crime'? NO

Will a knife ban stop people getting stabbed? NO

Will banning air guns stop idiots using them? NO

I am all for a 'safe society', as I am sure we all are, but nothing the government will do, or has done yet, will stop guns or knives being used in crime!

At the end of the day licencing makes sense but guns used illegally are not on a ticket are they?

come back and dont get f**k all get told they can build him a bungalo

how many more of those are there out there that we never hear about.

And people from any other country get free house,money and do what they want with MY tax money

they wont be able to stop people using air rifles because they tried to stop fox hunting but everyone still does it. anyway it wouldnt make sence banning air rifles because all the people who use it for hunting will have to stop but the thugs will still do it.they still stab people even though they was told not to

i agree with the idea of a registor because not everyone is stupid with there air rifles alot of people use them as a sport it is just these random ideots ideots in the towns that buy them and give us a bad name.

All this article says is that firearms law may be devolved, the scottish executive is skint and they have a very good set of rural and environment ministers, all that an airgun ban would lead to anyway is that they would become licenced. Given that a child can currently buy an air pistol in many dodgy shops (including fishing shops which I have never understood), it is about time we had licences.

 

A licence for an air rifle does not need to be as strict as that of SGL and FAC, just a permission to own based on your record (i.e. no convictions, asbos or warnings for anyone living at the property and the air rifle can be kept there.

 

If Police had a register of people who owned air rifles it would be easier to find anyone who abused that system by shooting at livestock, swans, cats, dogs, cars and people.

 

Now just because a parliament might look into restricting the availability of air weapons (and they are weapons) was not an invitation for all unsundries to start raving on about how overseas guests and decendents do things differently and get a variety of support from our government.
