stubby 175
is i worth carring on or not I'd say yes, its pest control, may mean a few more digs, and asking owner to keep vegatation cut back in certain areas well i think your wrong there your killing them before they got a chance ant you. lets hope your on here this time next year looking for some were to go as you not had many , and why because you killed them all the year before. seen it done it got the tea shirt mate. depends on how you look at it, if you owned the land, and grew no crops, than thats a good way of keeping your sport for next season, but for those on "permissions" surely, its not a good idea, you see it as "sport" but the landowner see's it as pest control, babie rabbits need feeding, so just when the landowner starts growing crops, and rabbits start munching, is not in my eyes a good time to stop, the landowner is not worried about next years sport, he's worried about his crops, and it dont take much, for him to give permission to others, I will ferret all year round, but if I were to totally clear the rabbits on a paticular permission (which I doubt) Im sure the good rep from that landowner would get me more permissions, rather than an owner moaning, that at a time when rabbits are doing there worst, "the ferreting guy" is nowhere to be seen but thats just my opinion Quote Link to post
IanB 0
I kill rabbits 12 month of the year, their vermin and the population is out of control... Nearly all the rabbits that have been shot/ferreted lately are full of young... so your best off putting a dent in them now before they explode and theres more to keep down... Depends how you see it though, some just ferret and hang up their nets when the rabbits are in kindle..but what do you do come summer when the fields are rampant with coney... keep on top of them when and how you can.. GarryN 5
If you do the ferreting as a service to the farmer you have to keep going, we have young and half grown rabbits on the go around here at the minute, HAPPY HUNTING Quote Link to post

The one 8,496
We were bushing yesterday with the dogs and now the snows melting we saw a lot of rabbit activity and plan a look there with the ferrets next week ,see how that goes but if theres loads of digging just swap to trapping and snares never lay off the rabbits the farmers would have somebody else in doing them .
