SONNY 0
i've struggled to find any permission in my area ,most of the farmers are pretty suspicious of anyone with a lurcher or longdog.i managed to get 150 acres just down the road but nobody else wanted to know.last week i did a bit of brickwork for a farmer in hampshire & after a bit of a chat i swapped my days labour for permission on 600 acres of land.well chuffed!!! my dog is laid up after pulling a dew claw again [4 times this year] is this just unlucky? he was 2 when i got him & still clawed.would a vet do it now ,[he's 4] & is it an expensive job? cheers,Sonny. Well done for getting permission mate. Regarding the dew claws, i'd say you've had a bit of bad luck! My vet will remove the dew claws for medical reasons and they charge about £300! ROZ 0
Well done on the permission,as for the dew claws, I would get them removed look around for vet prices.Got a mate had his dog done cost him alot less than £300. Quote Link to post

LDR 29
I only do mine if they become a problem, my black dog has knocked both his up, right back the quick the lot, they only grew back a tiny bit, so they're alright now, but an old bitch i had, got hers took off at 18 months along with getting some stitches put in and it was only £150 for the lot. SONNY 0
my dog's booked in for tomorrow to get dew clawed.my next pup will be done at an early age cos they're a pain in the arse.he's pulled em by chasing rabbits into cover & even when turning fast on open ground.i've heard people say lurchers need them but i'd rather my dog was'nt laid up for a week at a time. brock 11
i dont know why people dont dew claw pups when they are born,as they are a nuisance for a running dog and personally i dont like the look of them on lurchers. Quote Link to post
