moosedog 2
White poo is sometimes a sign of high calcium in the dogs diet, did he get fed raw bones ? Quote Link to post
moosedog 2
just read this below Hypercalcemia is defined as abnormally elevated calcium levels in the blood. Of the various types of substances that are poisonous to animals, there are those that include hypercalcemic agents. Hypercalcemic agents contain vitamin D, medically known as cholecalciferol, which works by raising the calcium content in blood serum to high toxic levels, resulting in cardiac arrhythmias, and then death. Hypercalcemic agents are popular for use in rodent poisons, since rodents do not have resistance to cholecalciferol. In most cases, poisons containing cholecalciferol must be directly consumed by an animal for it to fall ill, however the exception to this is when an animal eats a poisoned rodent. Animals that have consumed hypercalcemic poisons typically will not show immediate symptoms. Signs of poisoning may show 18 to 36 hours after the cholecalciferol containing poison was consumed. Left untreated, an animal can die from cholecalciferol poisoning and the resulting hypercalcemia. For an animal that does survive, it will have elevated calcium levels for weeks after the poisoning, and this excess of calcium can lead to secondary health problems, like renal (kidney) failure. dangergirl 13
If the stool was very pale it could be an indication of hepatic(liver)/ bilary type problems. Poor little mite. My dogs always have raw bones, a dog would probably have to eat alot to become hypercalcemic from bone ingestion. Edited February 14, 2009 by dangergirl Quote Link to post

I have just found out the blokes in the neighbouring field has been putting poison down for the rats, i'm guessing that while he was out running the field in the morning he came across a dead/dying rat and ate it because he was a pig for his food, like his father, he'd eat anything. And as for the meat and bones, its was all boiled and mixed with his biscuit, he didnt get much of the bones as i save them for Paddy (because he loves them so much). I am truely, utterly gutted. I didnt want to put this thred on yet, im still devastated about losing him.... so cheers griffo. Gutted! Quote Link to post
