True Lurchers

There's been a bit of discussion on another forum and I wondered what people here think.

If a lurcher is a sighthound x working dog, are the following dogs lurchers?

 

Whippet x spaniel

Greyhound x labrador

Whippet x beagle

Whippet x bull terrier

Saluki x poodle

Greyhound x bullterrier

 

 

Do you think these are lurchers? Do you think some are and some aren't? I'd be really interested in your thoughts....

if they where purpose bred for a task in the field. then i would say yes they are.

Yes they are, doesn't mean they will be good lurchers but they would certainly be classed as one!

In my eyes anything crossed with a greyhound or a whippet or that has greyhound or whippet in it is a lurcher to me.

Lurcher = running dog to None running dog .

long dog= running dog [ sight hound] to running dog.

All will have[ hybrid vigour.] as most xs are bred for differnt game, all will fill the bag .

to the letter of the law they are but i have seen some of them at the 1st cross and wouldnt call them lurchers not what i think of one any way,if they can do the job then i would class them as one.

My girl is Greyhound x Collie Whippet x Bedlington terrier. Four dogs Grey and whippet are running dogs and the other 2 are good working dogs....So this means she is a lurcher lurcher??? lol.

My thinking too - I understand that they are technically lurchers, but I struggle to call a lab x a lurcher. You've all proved salukiwhippet right in our argument elsewhere though!
