Little Butch 16
I'm gunna go to the Butchers Tommora and get some Bones for the Bully.. I'll be feeding Raw obviously to avoid splintering etc.. I've heard not to get Leg Bones as they're Brittle? What should I ask for? And how often shall I feed them? I've got a 5 - 6 Month old Bully aswell, Is It safe to feed Him them aswell? Cheers, Butch
Hannah4181 260
I feed mine bone 1 day and mince the next to stop the dogs getting bunged up. Mine have lamb legs regulary and i've never had a problem. If your worries feed chicken wings or carcasses, turkey necks, lamb breast and beef rib. What is your bully? I know staffords and AM bull dogs are fine on all the bone i've mentioned, i think it's just British Bulldogs you need to worry about.
Little Butch 16
I'll probably pop In there Tommora and ask for a few Turkey Necks and some Leg Bones then.. How much do they usually charge for these things? Butch
Hannah4181 260
I buy a months worth at a time and i'm buying for 6 dogs so it's hard to say really. Your local to me if you want i can give you the number of my guy who supplies all my raw food, he's only in Nedging near Bildeston and stocks a massive range of raw dog feed, also very good prices. You'd be hard pushed to get better from a butcher.
Little Butch 16
I don't drive yet so I'll ring me Local Butcher and Cycle up there to pick 'em up.. But cheers anyway. I plan on feeding an extra Bone, Heart etc along with their usual food. I take It you freeze It? Butch
billy badger 0
i feed mine on cow shin bones there quite chunky but the dogs love chewing through them to the bone marrow. Also give them the pelvis which they eat completely. haven't had any problems with them.
Little Butch 16
It's the Bones I'm mainly after, so what do I want? I'm after the Larger Bones really as It'll keep Her occupied.. Butch
billy badger 0
Personally, i find the cow shin bones are the best coz there plenty of bone marrow inside as well. The other (longer bones) our dog's don't seem to take so much intrest in, don't know why but they just don't.
Little Butch 16
Ok and what do they actually eat? Crack 'em open and eat the Marrow? Butch
billy badger 0
No, they start from one end and just chomp through it until they get to the end which they can't eat coz they can't get a good grip on it.
Little Butch 16
Ahhh, cheers for the advice! I take It these Bones will keep well In a Fridge? Butch
#1poacher 8
hello there give the dogs the leg bones from a cow they love the marrow inside them and it keeps them busy for hours.
Little Butch 16
I'll try to get a Rucksack full of 'em Tommora.. How long will they last In the Fridge? (It's In the Garage so smell Isn't that Important) Butch
billy badger 0
I should imagine so, coz its just like keeping any other meat in the fridge. But we get them every wed n thursday, don't put em in fridge just keep em in garage n give 1 to each dog every night, they seem to like em more when they've been left a couple of days. Must be the scent coming off them of something.
