hi its jenny who rang you earlier in regards to the article that was posted on the 12/02/09 on "'Lamping' patrols hailed a success"....sorry if I did not make any sense I tend to get a stammer on the phone anyway I need to contact a moderator of that site before giving you the link as you have to sign up to view the site but I can give you a few examples of complaints

 

"They dont have a clue what they are going on about they need to get there fact's right i think frist "

 

"They make you laugh mate dont they.

 

It really is bang out of order tho that they potray us all to be yobs, fair enough theres some tossers in our sport, but you get good and bad in everything.

 

The sooner these do gooders realise that a majority of people in our feild are genuine and what the real craic is the better, but i wont hold my breath, will you?. "

those are just a few examples of the approximately 50 complaints related to the ridiculous accusations and generalizations that all people who go lamping are "thugs, who were taking part in the practice of "lamping"" now im sure you must agree I don’t sound the sort of person to be a thug! (E.g. female and well spoken, as your paper likes to generalize people I thought I might help you generalize me) also the article implies that the people who killed that women’s ducks were people who go lamping which is ridiculous, it could of been anyone!

 

"Lamping involves people carrying large headlamp-style torches to stun rabbits and other wildlife and setting terrier dogs on to them" this part of the article is the part which angers me most firstly you don’t go lamping with terriers you lamp with lurcher’s which shows how little the person who ever wrote this article new about the sport they are portraying in such a bad light...secondly it is written so that it makes out as if hunting rabbits is illegal (refer to the hunting act of 2004 on the defra website if you wish to learn more) which it isn’t

 

I also rang the Peterlee police prior to ringing you and they told me to ring you as the Hartlepool mail was responsible for the way the article was written and the information in it, which I presume means that the incorrect rubbish that was wrote in that article is the Hartlepool mails responsibility to correct.

 

 

Overall personally I think a publically posted apology is in order as this article has angered many people!
